Holiday Inn Select Wilmington Brandywine Hotel - Page 1

This is a businessman's hotel, not one for tourists. There is little in close proximity of any interest other than utilitarian, and few dining options with five miles. For the businessman, however, it is a solid performer, well located with easy access to Wilmington and Philadelphia Brandywine. While not new, the rooms are large, clean and comfortable, with decent work space. My only complaint would be the need for internet adapters, rather than using a wireless network, but this is a petty quibble.

This hotel made me feel comfortable: The beds were very comfortable and having a lounge chair and footrest was a very nice touch. The desk swivel chair was an executive type chair, not the torture devices found in some hotels. The few requests I had were dealt with swiftly and efficiently.

The hotel was being renovated. The concierge room was excellent, especially in the evening. There was no complimentary breakfast over the weekend. The rooms were comfortable. The pool was not open. It was close to I-95 and Pennsylvania border.

I just want to say what a great experience I had at the Holiday Inn Select in Claymont, DE.

The staff was super friendly and the rooms were very spacious. My husband and I arrived late in the evening with no reservations and two tired kids. Even though the hotel was full, the front desk juggled things around and found us a double room. The kids were hungry and room service was about to close, so the desk clerk called and had us place our order before we were even checked into our room. It was great. The next time we are in the area there is no doubt where we will stay!

We stayed here twice for convenience, both times we had two rooms. It is pretty quiet and very convenient to I-95, in an isolated office complex. The restaurant is slow but surprisingly adequate, and the personnel are all pleasant. However, the front desk is disorganized, the facilities are poorly kept up, and cleanliness is an issue.

Examples: On our first visit we had rooms on the second floor which appeared to be budget rooms. The bathroom tiles were broken and moldy, and the A/C was broken. They wouldn't move us or give a discount, but they did replace the A/C condenser, flooding the carpet in the process. On our second visit we had a long standing reservation which they lost or cancelled three times! Then when we arrived, the previous tenant's underwear was under the chair in one room and we killed seven cockroaches in the other room, not to mention porn magazines left behind in a drawer. They did give us a discount for that one. However, we can't recommend this spot from our experience.

They had a wonderful breakfast buffet included in the room price.

This hotel made me feel content: It was a very nice place to stay.
