26 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

Stayed there for one night because of a wedding we attended in the French Quarter. It was Jazz fest weekend so my 'usual' spots were all booked. Anyway price wasn't bad even though there was an event in the city. No min. stay required either so that was great. Cabs were available and it was only $7 to get to Jax. There were ice machines and coke machines on every floor (just had to call the front desk to get location)

Comfy bed and clean room. 100% non smoking great for ppl with allergies.

Only con and I'm not sure if it was a con more of just a pain in the rear was that the elevators don't work with out using your room key first. Great idea in theroy that wow its a safe place, not so good when you're trying to check out and your hands are full of luggage. =)

Over all A+ and I will stay there again. This accidental discovery is now right up there with my 'usuals'

Oh yea and if you want to say some $$ on parking the fulton street garage is next door and its only $15 not $26 like the hotels valet.

52 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for business

I stayed 4 nights for a convention. No vending machines anywhere. No bottled water anywhere. I went next door to a Hampton Inn to get water. Maid took dirty glass and put it back as if it were clean. People at desk didn't know about surrounding area. Restaurant food was very good, however service was abysmal. No one to greet you or seat you. Service folks stood around and pointed at me when I came in. I ate alone and it took 2 hours - most of that waiting for a menu, waiting to take order, waiting a looong time for it to be prepared. Cook ignored my request for no spices. 2 girls ordered and waited so long that they left. Another woman ordered and complained that it was cooked incorrectly according to her request.

Although this is a great location if you're going to a convention across the street, I'd recommend staying at the Hampton Inn which is next door.

37 year old male with a economy budget, traveling for business

I recently spent 4 nights in this hotel on business travel. First time in this city, so I have no local comparison. I’m not a very picky type, but here is a list of things I noticed that you may be interested:

No wireless in the rooms anymore, and their system had connection problems even if I wanted to use it in the lobby. There is wired connection, but they were ‘out of cords’. Fan/AC broke down on day 1, needed repair. They fixed it quickly, however. Water leaked at the bathroom sink, WC water container’s top was not matching in size – was smaller – you could see how it works, some towels had a strange smell and touch. They were cleaned, but were strange to me. The other half of them were not like that. The maid apparently watches TV in the room. Both me and a colleague of mine found the TV on in the afternoon, and we did not leave it like that. In the meantime, some things were not refilled that day: coffee, shampoo…They list pool in the list of amenities, but I was told by the desk that they don’t have one. Parking is outside in a neighboring open lot.

I witnessed when the front door could not be locked for a while at night, and the only person at the front desk left for several minutes. I don’t care much, but if you are very concerned about security, it is good to be aware of this. The elevator is key-card operated though. The stairs are not I guess…

Overall: fine, but I’ve seen lot better places for this price as well as for somewhat less.

There was surprising little noise considering the area. We only stayed one night before the cruise left the next day. It was very conveniently located and clean. I would recommend eating at another location as they have few menu choices.

I am very likely to return to the Holiday Inn Select New Orleans Convention Center.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
