July 6, 2007: First let me say that we typically enjoy our experience at Holiday Inn (Sunspree Resort in Panama City in particular). So we had similar expectations for this stay. Upon arrival, our room was not made up (bed unmade - slept in, drinking glass on the counter in the bath room). We called the front desk and they promised to send someone right up. We went to dinner and returned 2.5 hours later. The room hadn't been fixed. The attendant tried to tell us that this was the "way" the room is made up (thinking we had an issue with the comforter). Finally, we were moved to the room across the hall (it was made up the way it should have been). We had noticed that a lot of bed linen was in the hall way toward the end of the hall (8th floor) when we checked in and returned from dinner. Then, at approximately 2:00 am, I was awakened by repititious, unbelievably loud banging and hollering going on in the hallway (earlier, there had been a group of young folks making quite a racket). I went into the hall expecting to find the group of young people but was surprised to find HI workers playing around with large laundry bins...running them up and down the hallway repeatedly and banging them into the doors and walls. I was amazed. I called the front desk and that person immediately radio'd the people (and I could hear the radio transmission from my room). The racket stopped, but my good night sleep was already lost (as was that of my wife's). We won't stay at this Holiday Inn again. I've already recommended to my travel agent that they remove the hotel from their list of recommendations.
