Holiday Inn Sault Ste Marie Waterfront Hotel - Page 1

This hotel is centrally located to most of the attractions that Sault Sainte Marie has to offer, but beware when making your room reservation. You may not get the room that you booked for.

I made a reservation two weeks in advanced at a nonrefundable rate for a King size bed with a sofa overlooking St. Mary’s river and a Queen size bed with a sofa overlooking the river.

My confirmation letter was sent to my e-mail that my rooms were reserved and confirmed. As we got to the hotel, the receptionist gave us two double beds instead. I showed him my confirmation letter for the above mentioned rooms, he said that those rooms are not available and that the only thing they could guarantee is smoking or non smoking. Why bother having different room rates then if that's the only thing they could guarantee?

He adjusted the room rate from the lowest of the 3 nights rate that we paid but, mind you, we have paid higher on the rooms we wanted in advance to the double bed rate and we did not even have the view. Two other customers had the same problem while we were there.

I wanted to cancel, but we were already there. We wanted to enjoy our vacation, so we just stuck with it.

A free continental breakfast is not offered here. They have a restaurant on-site. Their breakfast menu is good, but avoid the Friday prime rib buffet, it is overpriced and not good. Most of the time the server/cutters of the prime rib are not even there.

Overall, the hotel is in good location, but I will not go back there again.
