Holiday Inn Santa Monica Hotel - Page 1

We stayed here for two nights at the end of a month long vacation that included Miami & Vegas. Hotel is very pricey considering it is a Holiday Inn but so all the hotels in Santa Monica are expensive. Our room was fantastic and the location is perfect, straight across from the pier and within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Only complaint would be the attitude of some of the staff. Customer service is not something that springs to mind when talking about the staff. In particular the way one of the front staff spoke and dealt with a prospective guest in front of me was diabolical. I was so embarrassed for both of them. Neither do the staff have much idea about anything! But this would not stop me from staying again.

The location is perfect but the service is terrible the staff are ill trianed and crude. Their restaurant has a B which tells us something about hygiene !! Loud construction going on in the front. The management seems to ignore the property thought the location is prime the elevators are old and noisy the taps, faucets and the television are old. Above all the quality of service is equal to what you would get in a motel !! The location is perfect just facing the pier. Stay at your own risk !!

I stayed there for my 21st birthday back in 1978. The location was just excellent. Imagine having the pier, the beach, and Palisades Park right at your front door.

At the time I stayed there, there was a MacDonald's right across the street, an IHOP right around the corner, a Sears right next door, and a supermarket located right down the street.

The room had excellent views of Santa Monica, had a partial view of the beach, and it was right above the Santa Monica Freeway. The room was clean and the staff was nice. There was even a bus route that ran right out in front of the hotel, turned onto Wilshire Blvd., and it traveled through West Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and on into downtown Los Angeles. Also, at that time, there was a Gray Line Tours bus that took you into their bus terminal in downtown Los Angeles to go on any sightseeing tours. (My brother and I took the tour of the movie stars' homes.)

Unfortunately, I have not been to Los Angeles since 1983. Job commitments, periodic unemployment, and financial reasons have prevented me from taking yearly vacations. I also read the recent guest reviews, and now, I'm not so sure that I'll want to stay here again on my next visit. Don't get me wrong now; I just love Santa Monica. But I can't afford to stay at this Holiday Inn. I work part-time as a market research interviewer, and also on Social Security Disability, so therefore, I can't afford to stay at an extravagant hotel. But I do want a place that has a clean room, good service, and a good location as well.

I will keep on checking the guest reviews of the this and the other hotels in Santa Monica, and I will make my decision then. I definitely want to stay in Santa Monica again!

Great location right at the Pier!!. Great hotel. The hotel was just completely renovated. Location could not be better. Steps from the Santa Monica pier, the great beach and all the shopping on 3rd street. Walking distance to everything. The staff was great! Definitely will escape the Phoenix heat to enjoy Santa Monica again soon! Hint... We flew in to LAX, took a cab. Did not need a car, so saved on the parking costs. Walked everywhere!!

Our room was pleasant surprise. Update in decorating appeared recent and bathroom likewise. Very clean, and excellent location. The pool was very clean and a nice place to relax. The food was also good. The staff was excellent and went out of their way to please. The only complaint is the noise level. We ended up with a room on the street not expressway side and the early morning bus stop was a little noisy until gotten use to. Compaired to other hotels in that class we felt it was priced ok. Parking, although it is pay, was good. Other hotels in area have major parking problems. Definately will stay again.
