Excellent
I stayed here for one night after staying in a 4 star hotel here for business and really thought this hotel was better. The room wasn't giant but was very nice- newly redone and had beautiful marble tops on bureaus, nightstand and bathroom, and...
male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
The rooms are nicely renovated but thats it.
First, its location; not really downtown and not in a cool neighborhood. its actually at the entrance of a major highway. So forget about walking around there. When you enter the lobby, you get a smell of fried food just like at McDonalds! it was really bad, its a shame they put their cafe-style resto right in the lobby. I mean it would sorta have been cool, if there was an espresso machine, croissants but they actually serve the greasy stuff right by the lobby. Otherwise, the reno itself was ok.
I am not likely
to return to the Holiday Inn San Diego-Downtown.
I would not recommend it to friends.

The price. The room, no free continental breakfast. I've stayed in San Diego for the same trade show many times. This was the worst stay yet. To start, the rooms were shaped strangely due to the architecture of the building (cylinder shape). Then at...
