The rooms were very small in comparison to other hotels we have stayed in.
We began with a handicap room which was so cramped and my daughter’s wheelchair would barely fit in the room, let alone her oxygen machine. We switched to a king room with a pull out love seat which gave us more room. The restaurant was very overpriced and the food was mediocre. A simple omelet for breakfast with coffee cost over $9.50. I guess that’s why they can offer children’s meals for free.
On our third night, our heat in our room would not stop and sadly it must of been 85 to 90 degrees. We turned off the heat completely hoping that would solve the problem. We also had to keep the door wide open to try to get a breeze from the hallway. After a couple of hours I notified the staff and the manager. One of the staff came and played with the thermostat, said to keep our door open and he would turn off the heaters in the hallway. Two hours later the manager came, around 12:30 pm. He said he would look for a fan but also suggested keeping our door open. He returned about 30 minutes later and said there was not a fan available and no offer was made to give us another room. I never slept during the night because we had no choice but to leave the door propped open.
The hotel offered a twenty five percent discount, and I requested a full refund which they denied. Their reply was they would give us a discount on our next stay. Of course I did not accept because I would never want to return.
When receiving the final bill at checkout they had billed my debit card with all the incidentals. I gave the staff a separate charge card when checking in to cover the extra expenses. When I got home, and checked my on line banking statement I found that they had double charge the entire bill. A total of $740.00 which would have caused an overdraw of $500.00. I immediately went to my bank , deposited the funds, and then proceeded to make several calls, both to the hotel, and also to corporate. It took numerous phone calls and over a week to clear up their incompetent mistake. All the charges went through the bank before any credit was given so I am relieved I deposited the funds immediately.
I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone. Their policy is satisfaction guaranteed but, of course, that is unfounded. I would definitely recommend the Comfort Inn, and the Fairfield Inn, both of which have been remodeled, have brand new pillow top mattresses, a fridge and a microwave in all of their rooms included and the price for a night is about the same.
In my opinion, this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Also, my bank manager has told me that in the last week 6 of her customers were also over billed. I wonder what is going on.
