The hotel has a great location, near Metro, central Manhattan and Times Square. There is a nice bar in the middle of the hotel.

This hotel made me feel respected: I liked the attentive service and the staff was pleasant.

I am very likely to return to the Holiday Inn Midtown 57th St.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

The hotel has a good location for restaurants and Broadway shows. It is an old hotel, but I got a good sized room. The only negative was that there was no hook on the bathroom door to hang a robe or a towel. Do not expect luxury, but it is reasonably priced for New York City.

This hotel made me feel respected: When I requested a hook on the bathroom door, they did their best to locate one. The help was very polite in explaining why they could not provide one.

I am somewhat likely to return to the Holiday Inn Midtown 57th St.
I might recommend it to friends.

Bedrooms were nice and big but the bathroom was tiny! Front desk were really helpful - unlike the bar staff (she refused to give my wife a wine glass and served her wine in a plastic half-pint pot instead - obviously saving on the washing up). Good location - close to Central Park. Roof top pool was good but the opening hours are rubbish (10.00a.m. to 6.00 p.m.).

This Holiday Inn hotel, like all New York City hotels, is ridiculously overpriced, but it is the most convenient hotel to Lincoln center, where I was attending three operas in two days, and, therefore, the best choice for me and my needs. While decently maintained, it is not luxurious, and I would not recommend it for the casual tourist.

Nothing much stood out about my stay at this Holiday Inn. The bed was a bit too hard and the thermostat was broken, but besides that, service was as expected.

Our family of five stayed here in July 2006. We were very disappointed by the condition of the room; it badly needs updating. The A/C barely worked, and the toilet overflowed three times and had trouble flushing. The bathroom was too small and was falling apart. The beds were adequate, and the location was pretty good.

The concierge did not give us good advice and overcharged us for tour bus tickets. The rooftop pool was fun, the kids liked it, but it closes at 5:00 or 6:00, so it's hard to find the time to use it. The parking garage was fine & it was a good price for Manhattan.

This location was ideal for our traveling. It was close to subways, Chinatown, and restaurants. The room was very comfortable and the rates were very reasonable. There was a nice breakfast buffet.

This hotel made me feel comfortable: The staff was very helpful. The rooms were prepared and nice. They answered all the questions that we had.

The hotel is in a good location just far enough from the theater district to be semi-quiet but close to the subway and within walking distance to Times Square. It had very reasonable parking.

The check-in process was utterly appalling. After arriving at 1am, we were told that our room had been taken by a group at a convention, even though we had already paid for our room and had informed them of what time we would be arriving. They told us that they only had a room with a double bed left, which was ridiculous, as there were three of us and we had paid for a room with two double beds!

After the clerk had a lengthy chat with the manager, they suddenly (and reluctantly) gave us a suite for a night. A double bed and a sofa bed in a tiny room hardly makes for a suite! The room stank of smoke even though it was supposed to be a non-smoking room. When we were finally moved to our correct room the next day, we found the beds and pillows incredibly uncomfortable and the room was badly in need of refurbishment with the carpets in dire need of replacing and the walls needing something to make them look less of a grotty yellow.

The air conditioning was practically non-existent and with the windows only opening two inches, the room was unbearably hot at all times except first thing in the morning. The room was clean enough, but new towels would be a good investment at this time, as they were tiny and wearing rather thin. The shower was incredibly temperamental and burned or froze you without a moment's notice.

The clerk at the tour/information desk sold us a tour and gave us incorrect information resulting in us showing up almost 3 hours early for the tour! The bar was not incredibly enticing with its dull decorum and loud music and did not have enough seats but the drinks were excellently prepared (if a little overpriced) and the bar food was too expensive for what you actually got.

Even though this hotel is poorly located it isn't too expensive to take taxis from this location. The worst parts of the stay were the continually slamming doors and the awful way we were treated at check-in. If you are on a budget and only staying or a few days however, this hotel just makes the grade. I wouldn't want to spend a lot of time hanging around in this hotel.

I would not recommend it to friends.
