49 year old with a moderate budget, traveling for business

I expected more of this hotel, and to say it was a disappointment would be an understatement. First of all, any hotel in the middle of noisy renovations that doesn't warn you about that when you check in or make reservations ought to be hung to dry. The place was just plain NOISY during the day, all the way up t0 7pm, the time i was told the workers upstairs would stop making noise with hammer drills. The minibar prices are absolutely ridiculous. $4.50 for a soda??? And they won't even bother doing manual checks for billing, it's an electronic system. Remove something for 45 seconds and you get billed, regardless of whether or not you wanted it in the first place. The maid left the radio on and playing on a Mexican station every day after cleaning, and would drive the desk seat height down to the very bottom every time, after I had adjusted it to a height I would enjoy. There was no complimentary water bottle for Priority Club members. I never got a refill for the tea bags that were supposed to come with the very poor coffee. Every time I walked past the outside entrance to the Italian restaurant, it was always by some employee smoking right in front of it, create a gross and very unappetizing cigarette smoke barrier. Needless to say, there's no chance I would eat there. On the plus sides, the employees were somewhat accomodating, I was not billed for the Internet charges ($9.95 a day??!! in this day and age???). I wanted to make a car reservation to go back to JFK but when I found out it was a whopping $83 plus tolls and tips, I cancelled and went to the Internet instead for $59. There is a lot of construction going on around the area, and one site in particular was driving steel beams into the ground beginning at 7am on the dot. Walking past that was just plain PAINFUL to the ears. I'm not coming back.

I am not likely to return to the Holiday Inn Manhattan Wall Street Dist.
I would not recommend it to friends.
