The staff was friendly and accommodating. We were there because of a problem in our home. The staff was sympathetic and helpful, providing toiletries and advice for dinner. They responded quickly to a security concern. There were difficult circumstances yet I had an enjoyable stay.

This hotel made me feel pampered: They took time to bring items to our room. They spoke to us in a nice, friendly way.

I am very likely to return to the Holiday Inn Kingston.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Great...but remember your confirmation!. There are so many good things to say about the Kingston Holiday Inn, especially if you go with kids. The rooms were clean and very well maintained. The amenities were really kid and adult friendly. There was a large indoor domed area that contained a large pool, whirlpool, arcade, and fitness area, as well as seating to just "hang out with a group" if you wanted to. Most of the staff were professional and very helpful. The negatives were the restaurant, where an incompetent kitchen actually sent us "already been tasted" food after already making a mistake on our breakfast dishes the first time (we were there almost 2 hours). Even the wait staff, who were great, were getting impatient. The bigger negative were some of the "front office" people, who made me feel like I was a liar and a cheat when I went to explain to them that I ordered the two night package with the $20 food voucher, as did the other two families with whom I'd booked. I didn't realize that I didn't get that package at check-in until I was eating breakfast. The woman at the front desk said people claim that all the time. Thanks to the weekend manager I got my vouchers. When I went to complain about how horrific the second-day breakfast experience was to one professional front desk woman, the other woman who did not want to honor the vouchers the day before, went back to that day's manager and told her that I got the free breakfast from the weekend manager even though I wasn't entitled to it. The manager on duty at this time said to her, within earshot of me, not to worry that she wasn't giving me a thing more. She then came out smiling to give me a hard time. It wasn't until I stated that I was going to notify the Corporate offices that they gave me $10 off one day's stay...and made me feel like I was getting more than I deserved. Very unprofessional, especially in a service organization. Bottom line is that you have to double check the reservation form when you sign in...and bring your confirmation...if you don't want to risk being in the same predicament as was I. I'd stay there again...because I cannot believe they'd be in business very long if this happened alot...and I hope once I complained to Corporate upon leaving the hotel, which I still felt compelled to do, they won't let this happen to another family! Again, most of the staff are capable and professional. One bad meal, one bad manager, and one bad front desk person ruined my experience. Caveat Emptor!

I am very likely to return to the Holiday Inn Kingston.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

29 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

So my husband and I go out for his birthday just to get away from home for the night just the two of us.. We have stayed at this location before and LOVED IT! So when we decided to go out for the night this was the only destination we wanted... Check in went all right besides the lady not knowing how much to collect from me the amount changed at lease twice but after that we continued to our "Executive Suite" ... When I needed my phone service turned on it took 20 minutes to turn it on all the while they had slipped an URGENT message under my door witch is why I had it turned on in the first place.... After that we decided to we were gonna go to the jacuzzi to relax then for a nice swim. The jacuzzi was a pleasant treat just what we needed... So time for a swim.... Rules posted state: No diving, No running ect... about five minutes of being in the pool 3 teenage boys come running into the pool area one jumps in, one cannonballs his way in and the other DIVES! All three splashing my husband and I in the face, the life guard looked up at the 3 boy's looks back down at his magazine and continues to talk on his CELL PHONE! The three boys continued to get in and out of the pool and jump, dive and splash with nothing said from the lifeguard we decided to get the hell out of the pool. We got to the room and looked at the time and the kitchen was going to be closing soon so we ordered room service... the food was dried out and tasteless and the desert was awful... during our dinner he sat behind me in the chair with the end table in front of him and I sat at the desk, my husband all ways the joker knows I HATE spiders says " Hey hun, what's that crawling under your chair?" I replied " Ha Ha babe not funny" IT WASN'T A JOKE!! To my relief it wasn't a spider at all....but to my horror it was a COCKROACH!! There it was middle of the night both of us exhausted we decided that we were gonna catch it and bring it to the hotel manager in the morning and deal with it then... during the night we KILLED several more of these unpleasant guests and in the morning I went straight to the manager, exhausted from afraid of sleeping and being crawled upon... Quietly explained the situation to her and she gave me 1/2 off our room. I paid for the 3 local phone calls I made witch came to $30.00 for some reason. The manager told me how sorry she was and in the same breath told me that "I don't know what a cockroach looks like ma'am, but that is NOT a cockroach, I don't know what it is but i am sorry for it all the same" Not a cockroach? YEAH RIGHT! While I was down getting insulted by the manager my husband, who's entire birthday was ruined by this roach hotel, was in our room SHAKING out all of our cloths before he packed them up... we did a double take around the room to make sure we didn't forget any thing and as we were looking around another BIG cockroach was crawling under the desk. I got home and called 1800holidayinn explained the situation to her and she said that they would be mailing me out a refund for the remaining balance of my room. About 2 weeks later I get a letter from them stating : " Thank you for contacting guest relations regarding your experience with the Holiday Inn Kingston, NY. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to bring this matter to our attention and apologize for any inconvenience you my have experienced during your stay. I have forwarded your comments to the General Manager and ownership of this hotel and i am confident they will take the necessary steps to continue to improve their services. I am happy the the hotel manager was able to issue you a 50% refund off your night stay. UNFORTUNATELY, the hotel is unable to issue further compensation."

Great customer service huh?

I am not likely to return to the Holiday Inn Kingston.
I would not recommend it to friends.

The room was located next to the children's play area and it was quite noisy early in the morning and late in the evening. The room itself was very nice.

I am not likely to return to the Holiday Inn Kingston.
I might recommend it to friends.

I liked the location and the great comfort provided. The service was as expected and the food at the restaurant was ok. The price for the room seemed a bit high.

I am somewhat likely to return to the Holiday Inn Kingston.
I might recommend it to friends.
