I am a government employee who travels frequently and for extended periods of time. I am writing this from the hotel (1/15/08), but will be checking out tomorrow morning. I am expected to remain below a certain "per-diem" rate and chose this hotel because prior ratings through this site appeared to indicate it to be a decent and acceptable place. While this hotel is convenient to my area of work, I have already made reservations at a renovated Radisson 10 miles further from my work area in order to have a far superior hotel at exactly the same price.
When driving in tonight, I noticed ill kept homes within one block and found an extensive list of safety tips on the hotel room door, including a warning to check the parking lot carefully when leaving the hotel at night. I have stayed in many better hotels in Orange County California and have not found this extensive list of warnings at other hotels in better areas.
The hotel appears to have been renovated relatively recently, but has had heavy use and has been abused by the guests staying here. (The "suite" upgrade I was given already has scarred and water stained furniture).
I also note that the room has a musty and slighty unpleasant odor.
