Upon checking into the motel just after midnight on 12-25-08, the night shift clerk informed me that I could smoke in the room but there would be a SMALL fee for cleaning (this is standard with most motels at $15). After just falling asleep at...

Dramatic cathedral-ceiling lobby. Elegant traditional decor. Entire facility very clean, well laid out and comfortable. One of the nicest Holiday Inn Expresses we stayed in on this trip.
60 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
Good value. We stay there whenever we visit North Carolina. We enjoy the Continental Breakfast, the fitness room, and our room in general. However, if you plan to check in late (say after midnight) you need to specify this when making your reservation because after 1:00am they release your room whether you've reserved with a credit card or not. This happened to us but luckily they were able to provide us with another room. They told me that the information on the HHE website about the room being guaranteed when using a credit card was incorrect.
I am very likely
to return to the Holiday Inn Express New Bern.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

This was one of the best Hotels I have ever stayed in, if not the best. They were very nice and friendly. They had a very good breakfast bar, and great customer service. The hotel is kept very clean.
