Excellent
We stayed here on the way home from Florida. One of those "the-kids-are-tired-lets-just-stay-wherever-seems-most-comfy" type nights. Normally we would either book ahead or shop around a bit. We spent $100 with tax and we would normally try to stay...

Good
I stayed at this location while driving across the country from San Diego to Virginia Beach. This location was very comfortable and the "walk up" price was excellent. It's a nice stop on the way to wherever you're going.

The location is very convenient, right off the interstate. The room is comfortable and spacious. The complimentary breakfast was somewhat less than I expected, the waffles were stale and the other pastries looked recycled. The juice was watery. As the breakfast is complimentary, I suppose that the hotel does not invest a lot of money into this service. However, a little more care here could go a long way. The eating area was very pleasant, however. It was well lit with small tables and pleasant decorations. Also, there was only one clerk working the desk. This was problematic for check in or handling things that required the front desk attention. As I had mistakenly left my travel toothpaste and another traveler had misplaced her toothbrush, we were disappointed to learn that the hotel did not have any of these complimentary toiletries, contrary to the note on the mirrored sink area outside the bathrooms. However, being familiar with the area, I was able to go to a drug store nearby. As for the overall comfort and affordability, this is a very serviceable hotel that is a good value for the money.
I am very likely
to return to the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Jackson-Coliseum/Downtown.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

At check in the desk clerk was more interested in watching a TV monitor screen of hotel security cameras with a non-employee friend. At check out I wanted to report the above problem with the manager but she was not at the motel and it was about nine a.m. Part of her responsibilities as manager should be to be available during peak check-in and check-out times, just for instances like the one I mentioned.
