EXPRESS- RUN IN RUN OUT!!! – Posted May 13, 2008

Horrible
40 year old with a luxury budget, traveling for business

LET'S ADMIT IT WE RARELY GIVE GREAT REVIEWS! I BOOKED A ROOM 3 HOURS UPON MY ARRIVAL TO BERKLEY. NOT PLEASANTLY SURPRISED WITH MY FIRST IMPRESSION WHEN I WALKED UP TO THE FRONT DESK I CANCELLED MY RESERVATION. THE LADY WORKING THE FRONT DESK TOLD ME I NEEDED TO CONTACT THE 800 NUMBER. I DID WHAT SHE SAID AND CALLED THE 800 NUMBER. THE LADY "MILEY" WAS VERY NICE AND TOLD ME SHE COULDN'T FIND MY RESERVATION AND NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT I WOULDN'T BE BILLED. WELL, I WAS BILLED $175 FOR A HOTEL ROOM I NEVER EVEN ENTERED. I ONCE AGAIN CALLED THE 800 NUMBER ONLY THIS TIME WAS TRANSFERED TO SEVERAL OTHER 800 NUMBERS, FINALLY A REPRESENTATIVE SAID SOMEONE WOULD CALL ME BACK IN 7 TO 10 DAYS. HMMMM, I THEN DECIDED TO CALL THE HOTEL BACK. I ASKED FOR THE MANAGER "VICKY CHONG" SHE WASN'T IN HOWEVER THE LADY ON THE PHONE SAID SHE COULD HELP ME. I EXPLAINED THE ABOVE RUN AROUND. SHE SAID THERE IS A 24 HOUR CANCELLATION POLICY. I ASKED HOW COULD WE CANCEL WHEN WE JUST BOOKED IT 3 HOURS AGO. SHE SAID THAT WAS THE POLICY AS SHE HAD BEEN THERE FOR 7 YEARS. YES, NOT THE ANSWER I WAS WANTING TO HEAR BUT THE TONE WAS MORE UNPLEASING. BEWARE THAT IF YOU RESERVE A ROOM AND CANCEL 3 HOURS LATER YOU WILL BE CHARGED. THE FRUSTRATION, THE TREATMENT, AND INCONSISTENT ANSWERS ARE WORTH THE $175 DOLLARS TO LEARN A LESSON NOT TO BOOK A ROOM WITH HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS!!!! THE ONLY EXPRESS I SEEN WAS THE QUICKNESS TO CHARGE MY CARD.
