35 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for business

In one of the most historic areas of the state, this hotel offered to me a great rate, smack in the middle of an historic town that is teeming with sights. A book consortium less than two blocks away and another used book store east of town, a railroad museum in the next town over, a shopping and antique district, an historic movie theatre.

The room was new, cleaned impeccably nightly, was on a corner, had lote of windows but was warm (December stay). Great staff and a warm fireplace entrance to read those books ;)

Complimentary drink offered and decent bar at the fireplace. Breakfast bar was average for Holiday Inn Express, but very friendly staff and fresh coffee hourly.

Room was over the restaurant's kitchen therefore was noisy 24/7, noisy kitchen equipment. Certainly this was the only room affected so don't let it deterr you!!

Both bad reviews are from the same person. I was at the hotel during the incident in question. I find it petty and childish that they are badmouthing the hotel when they were at fault. Their statements are blatant untruths. What they fail to mention is that he was riding a very heavy motorcycle. It was about 110 degrees outside, and he was using the small kickstand on hot asphalt. Anyone with any experience with motorcycles knows that this is not the smartest idea.

41 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

About a half hour after arriving at this hotel, the front desk called to notify me that my brand new vehicle had been damaged in their lot. I went outside and with the manager immediately determined that a fault in the parking lot had caused it to give way. The manager agreed that the hotel was responsible for the damage and even signed a document to that effect. Today it has been 90 days and despite many calls and letters, I am still waiting for the $1,141 that they owe me and that they promised they would pay me. The manager is always out when I call and he is ignoring my emails.

This week I contacted the franchise company hoping that they will follow up with the hotel. Life happens and I can understand that things will happen, but when someone makes a promise and then decides to not follow through, they are NOT doing the right thing.

It is just such a shame that they are unwilling to do what they agreed to do when the incident took place. Shame on them!

Had a very bad expensive experience at this hotel that cost me a lot of money. Hotel GM promised, in writing and verbally, to take care of it but several months later and repeated phone calls, faxes, and emails he has ignored all. Very unprofessional, no integrity, completely dishonest person. Shame on you GK.

I travel everywhere for my job and recently stayed at The Holiday Inn Express in Grass Valley, CA. The hotel was beautiful inside and out. After a long day on the road, I was glad to see the complimentary cocktails. The staff pointed me in the direction of several restaurants within walking distance, (one is connected to the building and another is across the street). The room was very comfortable and had all of the things I needed. I was even able to get in my morning work-out as well as eat breakfast there. I have never written an on-line review before, but the hotel was a very plesant place to stay. I will definately be coming back here.

I am very likely to return to the Holiday Inn Express Gold Miners Inn.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
