Holiday Inn Express Gainesville Hotel

We made a reservation for 6 rooms, and got a discounted rate. When we arrived the manager told us that the rate was wrong, that it was only for one room (while the rest were full price). His story kept changing. First, the person who made the reservation was new and made a mistake, then he said that he personally called our friend who made the reservation and advised him of the correct rates, then he said someone else had made that call, then after 15 minutes of arguing he said our friend had lied when he made the reservation and told the clerk that he (the manager) had approved the rate. We will never stay at this hotel, and the whole group intends to be in the area frequently.

I was pleased with the room and the staff. The only thing I would say is that I mentioned, on check in, that I was there to have surgery at UF Shands the next morning. They have a special rate with the hospital that I wasn't immediately aware of. So since the staff didn't mention it either, I spent twice the amount of money that other patients spend.

This hotel made me feel relaxed: The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was pleasant to deal with. That really helped to lower the stress of the next morning for me.

The Holiday Inn I stayed at in Gainesville was under renovations. There was no restaurant or bar open, no restrooms in the lobby, and no lobby! I reserved several rooms for a family wedding and the reservation got messed up, they had to send people to another hotel. I received a discount for family members that had rooms scattered throughout the hotel, my parents received a free night stay due to a party in the next room for two nights keeping them up.
