This hotel has excellent beds and the rooms are spacious, well kept and bright. The courtyard is a wonderful place to enjoy a beautiful morning. The lobby is a bit cramped and could be more guest friendly. We did not use the breakfast offered due to other plans. The wonderful "Drake Diner" is next door and their food is terrific, plus a great place to meet friends. All in all, a very nice weekend in Des Moines.

Excellent
The Hotel was very nice. Would have been even better had there been more of a continental breakfast, but it was awesome for the money. The staff was very nice. The room was neat & clean.
Nice place, not a great neighborhood.

Okay
Likes: Room was updated and quiet, desk always staffed with friendly employees, breakfast plentiful, delicious and fresh. Restaurant next door, Drake Diner, is excellent.
Dislikes: We were approached by transients several times in front ...
Great staff and awesome new look!

Their new look is amazing! The staff has always been excellent, especially those managers. I, and could be speaking on behalf of many other guests, feel this hotel would be nothing without the property managers.

We had an old room that badly needed to be remodeled. We also requested a crib ahead of time and it was not in the room when we arrived. Then they didn't even bring us a crib. We had to go get it ourselves.
I am somewhat likely
to return to the Holiday Inn Express Des Moines-At Drake University.
I might recommend it to friends.
