Holiday Inn Express Columbus Hotel - Page 1

My wife and I were taking a road trip from Kansas city to Cleveland and we stayed one night at this hotel. I chose this particular hotel because my family usually stays in Holiday Inn's whenever we need to stay in a hotel, and it was right off of I-71. Check-in went very smoothly, the front desk staff were all very very nice. The general condition of the room was very good and the hotel itself was very nice (we had a non-smoking room). We went out to downtown Columbus for dinner which was convenient because it was only 5 minutes away. I did see peoples comments about the area, however we had no problems at all. The hotel is right off of the freeway so it wasn't like we had to drive through any local streets to get to it. The hotel had a good amount of people checked in that night due to the state fair close by, and there were mostly families and professional people staying. Checkout went smoothly, and the breakfast was on par with most Holiday Inn Express's I have stayed at. In the end I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice stay.

The first night we arrived there were difficulties due to overbooking and my friends that checked in that were suppose to have a smoking room were put in a non smoking room. Then it was difficult to get towels for the children to use at the pool. My daughter threw up on the bed. The next day we asked for the linens to be changed and they were not. When I asked the gentleman who was cleaning the room, he said that they were changed. So I asked him to follow me into the room and he did. I showed him the stain. He apologized and changed one bed. When I asked about the second, again he said the linens had been changed. That night I found my daughter's lost sock in the second bed where I had been told the linens were changed. At check out the billing was wrong, so they took the info to charge the card when it was corrected. It was billed to the wrong card. It took over a week to get this straight only after I called many times, because calls were never returned to me as I was told, and finally spoke with the manager. We travel with groups that usually book ten to twenty rooms per weekend. We have recommended that we no longer stay with Holiday Inn Express hotels due to our experience at this one hotel.

My stay at this Holiday Inn was okay. I had no problems with my room or anything else.

On my way to northern Ohio, I wanted to stay a night in Columbus. The place was normal and clean. I picked them for the price and they have a breakfast that is fast and one can eat and leave quickly.

It served our purpose well.
