38 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

So thank you again for making the start of our honeymoon a negative experience and one that will last a long time. I am interested to see if there would be some sort of acknowledgment from your corporate office about this.As a District Manager for a major wireless, company I am shocked at the level of service my new wife and I was subjected to.

30 year old female with a economy budget, traveling for leisure

I booked this hotel at least a month in advance for a weekend getaway for my husband and I based on the amenities and appearance on the their website. We booked the romance package for 2 nights. The romance package includes a basket with wine, chocolate, lotion, and shower gel. The wine was gross, the chocolate was old, and the lotion and shower gel looked and smelled like it came from the 99 cent store. Upon arrival my reservations were screwed up and the toilet in our room did not work. The free breakfast buffet coupon we received in the romance package was expired. When I called the hotel manager he was very rude and condescending. Most of the hotel staff appear to be very young and lack customer service skills. The hotel is also quite a walking distance from the tourist location on the riverwalk. There aren't any restaurants or stores located nearby or within walking distance. No refrigerators or microwaves in the room was inconvenient because we could not bring leftovers from the restaurant which both wasted and cost more money. The rooms were small and did not offer any where to sit except the bed. However, the bed was extremely comfortable. The entire hotel appeared to be clean and neat. Overall, I feel that the negative aspects of our stay outweigh the very few positive aspects. The price per night is too expensive for what you get. I've had better luck staying at the motel 8. Bottom line...waste of money!!!

The hotel was undergoing renovations which they had promised they would have complete by the time of our conference. There was only one working elevator and not all of the rooms had been renovated. There was dust and dirt from the construction work.

I am not likely to return to the Holiday Inn El Tropicano Riverwalk.
I would not recommend it to friends.

36 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for business

I stayed six nights at this hotel and the only good thing was the friendly staff. My room was dirty and smelled really bad, but was I stuck with it because a major convention was in town. The stench remained even after ventilating the room for one week. The hotel staff sprayed flower scents, but that failed. Their food was edible, but the breakfast was terrible. I found no decent restaurants after walking an hour around the site. It’s very poorly located, the ice machine is seven floors away, has only one functional elevator, and the tiny hotel shop was poorly stocked. At $159/night this was a total rip-off.

I am not likely to return to the Holiday Inn El Tropicano Riverwalk.
I would not recommend it to friends.

The hotel was undergoing renovations during our stay there in early October. The lobby was beautiful and the staff was incredibly accommodating. I was most impressed with the staff at the breakfast buffet, they were so incredibly nice that our group ate there every morning we were in town.

The hotel is at the end of the Riverwalk, and if you didn't mind the 20 minute walk, it’s a beautiful way to get to downtown.

I imagine after the renovations are finished, this will be quite a gem of a hotel.

I am very likely to return to the Holiday Inn El Tropicano Riverwalk.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
