Holiday Inn Beaumont Plaza Hotel

We recently took a trip from Colorado Springs to Beaumont for a wedding. I booked the trip through cheaptickets.com.

When we arrived at the local airport, and went to pick up our rental car, we were informed that even though we had paid for our car already with a prepaid debit card, AVIS would not take the card for the car. This was not explained between the time I paid for the trip and car, and the time we arrived. In fact, the cashier had my keys ready when I got there! This left myself, my wife, our 3 year old, and our 8 month old stranded at the airport, since no other rental car companies would take a prepaid card either!

While I was on my phone trying to work out at least a refund with cheaptickets, (they refunded my $, by the way, but not until about 4 days after we got home), my wife called your hotel to see if they could send a shuttle.

The manager on duty, Beverly, did not have a bellhop, so she herself drove the shuttle to get us, and called the room twice to see if there was anything she could do to help with our car situation. We finally had a local friend rent a car for us, but I wanted again to thank Beverly, and inform you that your hotel was outstanding, as was the staff! Although we will not do business with cheaptickets or AVIS again, we will recommend your hotel to anyone we can.

The services was outstanding! We felt we were #1 during our stay. Staff went out of their way to make things happen for us. Would stay there again in a heartbeat. Our of all the facilities we have used this hotel/staff have again proved to be the best. The only recommendation would be to have a small safe in each room for valuables.

Considering the hotel was recovering from a hurricane, they did a terrific job.

This hotel made me feel welcome: They provided service when expected and when asked.

The room was musty smelling and it felt humid even though the air conditioner was on. There was very poor lighting by the bed to use for reading. The food in the restaurant was expensive for its type and when it was finally served, it was terrible. It was of very poor quality.

It was just an average hotel. My stay was 11 months ago, and honestly, nothing stands out about it, either positive or negative, aside from the fact that one of the vending machines did not work.
