Holiday Inn Augusta Hotel

Pros-

Pool very nice and clean,

Lobby and other public areas are clean and well taken care of.

People are friendly

Kids eat free in restaurant

Micro and fridge in room

Quiet

Comfortable (even after 4 weeks)

Cons-

Maid service is very poor and bare minimum is done to clean rooms i.e. floors not cleaned, vacuumed, sweped or moped (in result asked to have carpet shampooed due to having black feet after my family showered), bathrooms not cleaned, no dusting or cleaning of surfaces, mirrors, sometimes we got soap coffee and cups and other times we did not.

My family of three went along for a business trip and stayed at Holiday Inn of Augusta for 4 weeks. Our experience was good and there were a lot of positive aspects except for the less than par maid service which was a very poor attempt with little effort. We bought antiseptic wipes to clean with. Overall it was a good hotel and would have been great if not for the poor cleaning of the rooms.

We stayed here in February 27-March 2, 2007, and we paid $50 a night through Priceline. The hotel was being renovated at the time. Our room had recently been completed but didn't have anything like new paint smell or other odors. Not surprisingly, everything in working order with no structural flaws in the room.

(+): There was a microwave and a refrigerator in the room, free wireless internet, the usual cable TV, and an ironing board. I think they provided a free copy of USA Today daily. Kids eat free, although we never went to the buffet. They have a friendly staff. The room turned over daily and always came back to a clean, nice smelling room. It's located right along a major road.

(-): Not the highest water pressure in the shower. The A/C-heating unit when on results in really dry air. The noise level was acceptable.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. I would definitely be happy if I matched there through Priceline again. I wouldn't pay $98 though.

It was a short stay during military PCS (10 days). HIH&R is always a good place for us, since they take care to remove many of the small worries surrounding a move for my wife and myself.

The hotel was 3 miles from where had to go.
