Holiday Inn Arlington Hotel

We stayed at this hotel in July 2007 and it was a great visit, so we booked again for this April for a wedding (a large block of rooms were booked). the stay started out awful, with them cancelling our reservation, not providing the gift bags from the bride and groom. Rooms were less than satisfactory, with broken air conditioners and doors that didn't work. The staff couldn't be bothered to look up an address for us, as our cab waited. The maids left room doors open with personal belongings in them. And when I reported two teenagers lurking in the hallways, trying to enter rooms with their key card, I was told I better be quiet. And to top it off, when I contacted the corporate office, to let them know how one of their hotels was, I was told there was nothing they could do about it, and I needed to contact the hotel directly. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone.

We've stayed at this hotel several times over the years as it is close to our daughter's apt. It is always clean and the staff has always been friendly. The only complaint I have is with the mattress on the beds. They are not very comfortable and to correct this problem they have placed waffle pads on top. They don't fit the mattress leaving a big gap at the top of the bed. The bottom sheet doesn't fit over the added padding so it tends to pop off. The maids solution to my complaint was to leave 2 flat sheets on the the bed for me to put on the bed. Parking is free on the weekends.

The recently renovated rooms were very clean. The staff was helpful. It's just a short walk to the Metro and Ballston Commons Mall. Breakfast in the restaurant was very good, but pricey, as items such as OJ and coffee are a-la-carte.
