35 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for business
Upgraded free of charge to a casita right by the smaller pool. Nice privacy, great room, comfortable furniture and workspace, fridge, bar area, sink.
I'd come back. One huge roach turned off my girlfriend but with sliding glass door access to desert areas is probably to blame, not a lack of cleanliness.
42 year old with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
On June 4, 2009 we booked a week long stay at the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Resort. Our reservation was for August 22 – 29, 2009. This was a special trip to celebrate our twentieth wedding anniversary. We made our reservation directly through Hilton.com. Our reservation was for a room with a king size bed and a mountain view. We paid a premium for the Mountain View.
We checked in on August 22, 2009 and were given room 3319 in building 3. When we got to our room we went out on our balcony to admire the view. We did not have a mountain view, we had a valley view. We went directly to the lobby desk and asked for our room to be changed to what we had paid for. We were told this was the only room available.
During the week we made several requests to have our room changed to the Mountain View that we had paid a premium for. We were repeated told they did not have any room available. Every night we went past building 1 and building 2 that had the Mountain View. Building 1 had a few rooms filled and building 2 looked completely vacant.
I am very unhappy with Hilton. We did not get the room we paid for and then the lobby desk staff repeated lied about the availability of rooms with a mountain view. The room situation and Hilton lobby desk staff tarnished what was to be a very special celebration.
Be very cautious when booking a room at this resort. Building 1 and Building 2 have mountain views, while Building 3 & 4 have views of the valley and houses.
As of September 4, 2009 we have not received a refund or been contacted by Hilton regarding this situation.
This stay was a huge disappointment!
***Update***
On September 14th I spoke to Mike Hammer, Operations Director from the El Conquistador Resort He confirmed that Building two had been closed. He apologized for the problems we had with our room. He recommended a resolution that I feel is equitable.
Mike’s offer does show effort on Hilton’s part to make right the situation.
