50 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

Our visit 4/12/08. Booked our rooms on-line using Hotwire.com, and for the price we paid it was well worth it. The time it took to register was short and the staff were all very helpful and nice. Check in time was at 4:pm but we arrived eary at 12:30 pm and our room was ready. The room was remodeled in a nice contemporaray fashion, beautiful bed linen, pillows ect. The bathroom was large with upgraded flooring. The only complaint from me on the bathroom was no hair dryer! Nice side view of the bay & gardens. Pool, cabana's & bar area was pretty, except they haven't taken down the wooden fence blocking the beautiful bay view. The main resturant was expected to open the following week, we had lunch at the cafe' & the waiteress was very friendly & helpful with things to see & visit in SD. We are going back in May with the kids!

33 year old man with a moderate budget, traveling for business

I have come to expect a great deal from the hospitality industry. When I choose where I will stay for a business trip I base my lodging upon what a hotel can offer me. I usually spend a lot of time t the hotel

I did not get to pick this one. I was at a conference being held at this resort. It is a beautiful facility with lush landscaping and lots of space. That is about all that they have.

Pros: Nice rooms, "bay beach" front, great pool and hot tub.

Cons: Terrible guest services, lack of an attention to details, Rude and poorly trained staff.

There were three distinct instances while I was staying there that justify my rating. First, I was forced to wait over two hours to get my room. I did not arrive early the room was simply not ready. Second, when I finally checked in I asked the young woman where I could smoke cigars. Instead of suggesting an out of the way nook on the premises (which I would have been happy with), she began to loudly describe her disgust at my recreational habit. I am used to being a social pariah for my cigar smoking, but not from someone at a resort. Finally The housekeeping staff could not have my room cleaned by 4:30 pm.

There were other problems as well. I found a large nail on the dark carpet in my room.. The ice machine did not work. And there was the bad in room coffee.

With a rack rate of $389 USD per night I expected to get so much more.

Do not waist your money or your time at this so called resort.

I am not likely to return to the Hilton San Diego Resort.
I would not recommend it to friends.

The internet hookup in the room did not work. The layout of the room was odd and not very functional. It was clean and the service was good.

I am somewhat likely to return to the Hilton San Diego Resort.
I might recommend it to friends.

It was an excellent location, near the water yet secluded enough to provide a relaxing atmosphere. The concierge was extremely helpful in providing directions to local attractions and when she was busy, the front desk staff filled in and provided excellent information.

This hotel made me feel relaxed: They made it easy to find local attractions without having to worry about trying to stop and find directions.

I am very likely to return to the Hilton San Diego Resort.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
