Hilton San Diego Mission Valley Hotel

I have never felt so welcome at a hotel. Very friendly staff, eager to please their guests. Rooms were bright and very clean. I felt very comfortable here and will definately return.

We stayed for one night (a Saturday) for a mini-vacation. When we parked ($14!) and stepped into the elevator to the lobby, I felt like we'd stepped into the smelly dog paradise that is the inside of my vaccuum cleaner. Horrible wet-dog, moist, allergy-inducing stench. We got to the room; it was okay but kind of cheesily decorated for a Hilton. All the furniture was crammed into the room, like all of it was thrown in around the king bed as an afterthought. The bed faced the window and the TV armoire was awkwardly placed so that you had to lay on your side to watch TV? There was a cheap wicker chair with some copper looking fabric that seemed out of place. The bathroom was very nice but the electrical outlet didn't work, so I had to blow-dry my hair at the desk! All of this I could forgive if it weren't for the PAPER walls. Seriously, I think the walls there are a mirage or hologram! I could hear, understand, and dictate every single word of the conversation in the room next to us. And every other word was the F one! Conversation (at regular speaking volume) is permitted (even at 2:27 am and again at 6:12 am), so I didn't say a word to our neighbors or call the front desk, as the problem was with the cheap quality of the hotel and not volume level. I didn't sleep at all, that night but spent it composing this speech in my head!! I had a choice in our hotel, and I picked what I thought was an upscale Hilton hotel (good reputation, I had recently stayed at the Hilton Houston and it was fabulous). This is nothing of what I expected. If we had stayed at a cheap hotel (Holiday Inn or similar) we could have at least gotten free wireless and a continental breakfast! No, it was $3.99 for internet access (didn't even ask about printing, because we wanted to check in for our flight) which prompted us to find an IHOP with free wi-fi. Sometimes we're willing to spend a lot more for something nice, but I felt like I got nothing in return here. I was sorely disappointed with this hotel and want my money back!!!

I did not like the location of the hotel as I thought it was both far away from the airport and the city center. It was convenient to a shopping center but the center contained nothing that I could not find where I presently reside. The service at the hotel was great and I really liked the complimentary newspapers in the morning.

The hotel had a good central location and a friendly staff. I liked the good and clean room. I felt very secure and safe.

This hotel made me feel relaxed: The hotel had a nice warm atmosphere and a friendly staff.

For a better view ask for a room that faces the freeway, as the back side faces a hill. The room did have very low humidity. The room, while nice, did not really seem to warrant the price per night.
