Not a good place for a relaxing vacation

31 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
I never write reviews but this one I feel I have to warn people. My husband, my 2 children and I booked 5 days at this Hotel. When we got there, they had to move us to three different rooms before they found one that had been cleaned. The second day we were there they stripped the wallpaper down our hall and under the wall paper was MOLD! It was everywhere! I called the front desk and told them about this problem and that she was aware of it but they still never did anything. I was afraid that my girls would get sick because of it. We were there for four days and we never got are rooms cleaned and we were using the same towels. Now you can imagine at the beach with the sand we needed them changed more often than that. In our room the curtains fell down and we called the maintenance man. He came and promised he would put them back up the next day but he never returned. So we were without curtains in our room the rest of the time. I felt dirty and not on vacation because I was too stressed about the mold, towels, privacy, filth, and safety. We finally left early and booked a room at the Holiday Inn Oceanfront. It was a little more money but it was so worth it. I finally felt like my vacation started except we were leaving the next day. I would never stay here again and I certainly don't want anyone one else to go through what my family went through. Please it is not worth the cheapest price. A vacation is supposed to be relaxing! I hope this helps! Have a great vacation!

Dirty and unsanitary

The nightly rate I received was very good, but I'd rather pay three times as much to stay else where. The internet service did not work and we were told that the had service men there for the last several days, but they just couldn't get it working. We had no towels in the room when we checked in and no remote to the TV. It appeared that the room was being used to house hotel workers on the weekdays, but was made available to us for the weekend. The smell leading to the room and inside of the room was most likely old urine. There was a box spring and matress outside of our room door for the two days we were there, which was most likely the source of the urine smell.
This place doesn't deserve a score. It should be shut down or torn down and replaced.

Not the greatest hotel

Had problems with both companies. Confirmation was not received from the online one to Metropolitan for one of the rooms. Showed little interest in helping to resolve the problem. Information exchange between hotel and website are not in sync. Check-in/out times are wrong. After finally getting checked in, the rooms were not even ready for occupancy. Maid service was still working to get everything in order. Desk staff is overrun when any number of guests is attempting the check-in at the same time.
This hotel has a lot to learn about customer service and communication with affiliates. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The only reason I gave it a 2 rating is because as of now, the wi-fi has yet to crash, so I'm still able to write this review.

Please do not stay at this hotel! Information online says that the hotel is across the street from the beach. We were half mile away from the real hotel in what I would call the Russian Projects. It is a very unsafe walk from the main building to what they call the Villas.
The hotel is getting money for Russian students to "intern" at the hotel. However, it was not the Russian interns that were doing any "work" at the hotel.

I stayed here a little over a year ago, mainly because I had booked it on Hotwire, and was only staying one night. I think it was called the Plaza then. I booked again, this time on Expedia, and I booked a room at The Metropolitan Hotel. When I booked, I had no idea it was the same hotel as before. I am pleased to say it might as well be an all new hotel. The lobby was great, the room was very nice, and I was pleased with the welcome I was given when I arrived. I will be back.

This hotel made me feel extravagent: They just talked to us more in the office than most hotel personnel, and seemed to make sure that we were truly enjoying our stay.
