Located on Waikiki's widest stretch of beach, the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa is nestled on 22 oceanfront acres offering the perfect mix of exceptional hotel accommodations and classic Hawaiian hospitality. This is Waikiki's biggest resort. You'll find tropical gardens dotted with exotic wildlife (even tropical penguins), award-winning restaurants, 100 different shops, a secluded lagoon and two minigolf courses. This is a great place to stay with the kids. There's a wide choice of accommodations and all rooms are large and beautifully furnished. Despite the hotel's mega-Vegas-size, this division into towers, each with its own restaurants and shopping, cuts down on the chaotic, impersonal feeling you can get from a resort this size. Still, this is the place for a lively, activity-packed vacation; those seeking a more intimate experience might want to look elsewhere.

My wife, her sister and husband and myself arrived for a three night stay before going to Maui. We were immediately given room upgrades to the Ali'i tower. Service was great. Disregard the whiners..this place is great!

Our family stayed at this hotel in October 2007 and had a great experience. This experience influenced our choice of hotels for our July 2009 Hawaii trip.
Big disappointment on this trip. Staff informed us that Hilton no longer owns this hotel and it was sold to the Blackwell (?) group. Of course none of the changes are apparent on their web page.
Policy has changed on room upgrades. As a Hilton Honors Gold VIP, we received a nice upgrade on our last stay. Mediocre upgrade on this stay in the Ali'i Tower. The really nice breakfast buffet this hotel had back in 2007 changed in April 2009. Now Gold VIPs only receive a complimentary continental breakfast (cheap pastries, juice and small choice of fruit). Cartoon network channel was black and white during our whole stay and never was fixed. Ice machines stopped working for a two day stretch and had to trek to another tower for ice. No late check out even though that is suppose to be a benefit for a Gold VIP member. $24 a day parking fee and no free Internet access in your room.
Any one who stayed here before April 2009, should think twice about returning. No effort from staff or management to make up for the policy changes. Total different lodging experience due to new owners "business decisions".

Waiters seem to be more interested in where you set than giving good service. This evening I went to two bars. Left after one drink, had to take check to counter - 15 minutes no contact with bar tender. Would have ordered another. Left and went to th
You never have to leave "the village" but there is no drinking past 11pm. The room decor is outdated but the staff is great. The grounds are beautiful and the luau is great for families. Food in general is overpriced, but there are lots of...

My family just got back from a week's stay at the Hilton. Overall, I'd say that we were happy with our stay. The check-in line was rather long (be prepared). We paid for a kingsized bed with a sleeper sofa in the Rainbow Tower. What we got was a 2 fullsized beds. When I called the front desk to say we needed to be moved, I was told they were booked. However, when my husband complained in person, lo and behold, there was room at the inn!! We did end up with the correct room and it was lovely. If given a choice, choose an odd-numbered room in the Rainbow tower for the best views of Diamond Head and the beach. You'll also have a front row seat for the Friday night fireworks! Our room actually had two balconies and to bathrooms (rm.2013)! It was a LARGE room.
I've read reviews that some find the Hilton too large. I honestly didn't feel this way. There are 6 towers surrounded by 22 acres of gardens. Most hotels in the area are just that - a hotel and a parking deck. I feel the Hilton has done a marvelous job making the resort feel like a park. There are tropical birds and different types of fish in several ponds. It was a very pretty place. I never felt crowded.
The restaurants are very expensive and I didn't feel like they were all that good. A short walk will take you to all the typical chain restaurants (Outback, Cheesecake Factory, Yardhouse, etc.). We did make use of the two Starbucks everyday. Expect to pay twice as much for coffee than you do at home.
One complaint I had with the hotel was the pool. Guests have the nasty habit of "reserving" chairs early in the morning by placing towels on chairs. By 9:00, you're out of luck finding a chair by the pool. The hotel needs to put a stop to this practice by scooping up all of the towels left by the guests.
There is plenty of shopping opportunities on the property if that's what you came to Hawaii for. I did buy some delicious cookies to take back as office gifts and for friends at the Honolulu Cookie Factory. It is located near the Tapa Tower, I believe. The cookies were rather inexpensive and are boxed nicely for that long trip home. They made a good gift for the dog sitter and the office staff.
When you walk into town to eat or shop at night, be prepared for brocheres to be thrust into your hands! It was a little disconcerting for people to come up to you hawking their place of business. It made it difficult to stroll or window shop because you had to be on the look out for these people! I didn't like that at all!! Yes, you can shake your head no and not accept the paper, but it gets tiring when this happens every 10 steps!
We enjoyed our stay at the Hilton. I would probably go back to the Rainbow tower if I were to visit Honolulu again. However, next time, I hope to go to another Hawaiian island that isn't quite so crowded!

Excellent
My husband took me to dinner at the amazing restaurant in the hotel we stayed at - the Village Steak & Seafood located in the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Excellent service, food was to die for and the atmosphere was excactly what we wanted.

As a seasoned and well traveled person, I don't mind spending a lot of mmoney on high quailty travel. From the minute my family and I arrived at the resort I wanted to leave. Since check-in is 3 pm and we didn't arrive to the resort until 7:30 pm I didn't expect any problems - WRONG! Our room was not ready until after 10 pm. We didn't get the room catogory or floor level that I requested when I made my reservation 7 months earlier. The staff is rude and unaccomdating. The food is horrible and extremely over-priced. This hotel is a nickle and dime hotel - they charge for everything & it's all expensive- fitness room, business center, in-room safe deposit boxes, beach chairs, etc - be prepared. The beach is ok at best. You will be continually harassed to take a 90 minute tour of the vacation club they are building every time you ask a simple question - when you say no they will look at you like your crazy.
This is definately not for the Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton crowd - STAY AWAY!!
