Hilton Garden Inn San Francisco Hotel

I am originally from the Bay Area, so seldom have an opportunity to stay in hotels in the area. However, my wife and I dropped our son off at my mother's and checked into this hotel. How I could have driven by it for 20 years, and never set foot inside is a mystery (although it was previously a Holiday Inn). We were on the ninth floor with an incomparable view of the Bay Bridge, SF skyline, the bay itself and even part of of the Golden Gate bridge.

The service was pleasant (not fast, mind you, but very pleasant), the room spotless, with a comfortable bed, and the standard Hilton Garden Inn refrigerator and microwave.

There is a Chevy's restaurant next door - so we carried up dinner both nights. There is also a Trader Joe's (among several other shops) just across the freeway for snacks and goodies to take home.

This hotel doesn't really lend itself to public transportation access - but they do offer complimentary shuttle service within a specified radius.

If you go to this area, be sure and walk along the shoreline park.

Finally, the breakfast was nothing to write home about, but it was tasty, and and well presented. The Great American Grill ( the HGI restaurant) has great views of the bay.

The service was outstanding, the rooms were first class and the location was exceptional. The room rates were better than expected with the exception of the charge for parking on the hotel property. This is a clean, super friendly and wonderful place to stay when in San Francisco. Take good care of the staff while tipping, as they really go out of the way for you. I was very impressed.

This hotel made me feel pampered: The staff was constantly asking if there was anything you needed, the manager came over and greeted us personally and the bell person walked through the room pointing out all the items for our comfort and even helped put the bags on the stands for us. I was with my elderly parents and they offered additional walker and wheel chair assistance. They gave outstanding attention to our needs.

The hotel was close to the freeway. The front desk clerk was able to direct us to a fantastic restaurant within walking distance. The shuttle service was available for a shopping trip I took, but a mix-up in pick-up locations made me wait outside in the sun for an unpleasantly long time.

The hotel staff was friendly. The hotel was undergoing renovation during our time of stay so parts of it were cluttered, but the parts that we not cluttered were very nice.

This hotel made me feel welcome: They invited us in with a warm greeting. The staff was also very informative and happy.
