member icon Not Handicap Accessible

46 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

I reserved handicap accesible room with roll in shower. Room did have a roll in shower but nothing else about the room was accessible. Could not get in the bathroom due to the door to room opened into spring loaded bathroom door. Once I got door open I could not get my wheelchair into the room due to the toilet and sink was to close. The bathroom door was loaded with so much pressure you could not open without it quickly shutting. There was no cold water in the room for 2 of the 3 nights. Scalding hot water only. Could not get under tables or bathromm sink if I wanted to due to a wooden rack under sink that was there for decor purposes. The iron and blow dryer were on the top shelf in the closet which I could not reach and the room was cluttered. Construction was being done on the floor the whole stay. Power saws were cutting molding all day. They also provide transportation to and from Reagan Airport but do not have a wheelchair acessible van for the disabled, even though I had made arrangements with them prior to coming I ended stuck at Airport for 3 hours until they got Hyatt to pick me up. Manager brought issues up to higher management but told me she got no response on correcting problems for future customers. Breakfast was excellent.

Stay Away

I made 2 reservations under 1 credit card. Both showed up and informed the clerk at check in but still got "NO SHOW" charge later mysteriously. It was a mistake that would be easy to correct. However, getting it fixed is a nightmare. I've been passed up and down and around. Everybody accepted the hotel's mistake and promised to correct but nothing gets done. The Big Hilton Corps does the same.

Stay away or pay cash.

It sure is easy to get to from Reagen Airport. It is confusing to park, but once you get it, the parking isn't too bad; tight though. The problems started immediately. There was some confusion on our reservations, although it was straightened out within about 10 minutes. Then we have the rest of the problems began. I was lucky in that first day. Only a minor renovation (unmentioned during reservations to my admin) and having to go back twice to get working keys. My co-worker went back once for a new key, and he had to have his phone fixed too.

The second day got worse. My co-worker's room lock worked fine, but mine refused to unlock. I got three new keys (from the ninth floor), and none worked. After the second key, I agreed to wait for the Engineer to help fix it. I went down after 10 minutes of waiting. After I got the fourth key, I took an hour for dinner, and returned to find the lock still not allowing me in. I called, and insisted on walking the Engineer up. He arrived in about 5 minutes, and was unable to get the lock to work. Yes, the hotel is overbooked, and there were no rooms available. Nor could I leave unless I want to have someone with a Master Key (which work) let me back in.

Simply avoid this hotel if you're trying to do business. Not recommended.

I discovered that they have mice and very dirty hallways. You can smell smoke on the smoking floors as soon as the elevator opens.

I will not stay there again.

The walls look dingy and you could see water stains on the ceiling. The bathroom is very small, and the wireless internet is not free despite what it says on their website.

If it were anywhere else, I'd probably only pay about $65 a night but in D.C. it's $235 (and that's the government rate). No fridge or microwave and the wall socket (only one near small desk) is way overloaded. It's very disappointing for a Hilton.

I am not likely to return to the Hilton Crystal City.
I would not recommend it to friends.
