We booked our stay thru priceline and it had always worked good for us. But this time when we booked our stay in Hilton O'Hare Hotel in Chicago, there were no rooms available in a supposed to be 400 room capacity hotel. They gave us a room where there was no bed and bed was pulled out of a sofa. Hilton, O'Hare is advertised as a four star hotel and this was very disappointing first impression. Then we called reception for a change of room. They put us in an indefinite hold and we went to the reception in person to get a room with a bed. At last after 2 hours after our initial check in, they gave us a room with a proper bed. Room was smaller than expected. We had stayed in 3 star hotels several times before and those rooms were bigger than this and this room neither had a guest sofa nor had a water tap with a filter (Very disappointing). The room was very ordinary not worth a four star. they advertise about 42 inch plasma TV in all rooms and say their rooms are sound proof. None of these were true. I could hear shouts and laughs from other rooms and couldn’t sleep that night.
Worst part was, you are given a coffee maker but you don’t have your own tap with a water filter to get water from. If you want to get water you should use the refreshment bar which is very expensive or order for it which is again expensive. when we called the reception, they expect us to use water from the bathroom tap (OOPS. I WONT DO THAT). We complained about this and since we had a hard time getting a room, we were offered free bottle of water(This was the only good part of the hotel so far). The next day when we complaint about all the things we went thru, to a manager, he couldnt do anything more than saying sorry and said not all their rooms come with all the facilities they put up in the website and if we book thru priceline, they can only guarantee a room not of kind put up in the ads.
He promised that he would have someone place a pitcher of drinking water in our room every night. Didnt happen though. which we expected wouldnt happen at this point. worst part is yet to come. parking is $38 per night. OOPS. We had to part in the economy parking lot in the airport and take an airport shuttle back to the hotel. Money paid is not worth it for this hotel and the 4 star tag to the hotel name is really not worth it. the hotel should really consider degrading the star rating or atleast dont advertise stuff they really dont have. It will be less dissappointing for the people who are considering to stay in the hotel. Please dont get deceived by this star rating of the hotel. you can get better (rather best) star hotels in Chicago. This hotel is only for people who expect minimum comfort and are ready to spend a lot of money for it or if you flights get delayed in O'Hare and you are given a free room here. you can stay here and stop dreaming about staying in a four star hotel after this stay. Really had an unplesant experience and a bitter stay. Chicago is a beautiful place and if you are going on a trip, stay in a nice hotel and enjoy the trip. I wont even consider staying in any of Hilton Hotels anymore.
