100% Worth upgrading to an oceanview with private jacuzzi! It's perfect if you do NOT want an all inclusive at a great price. Far enough away from downtown. Beautiful beaches, amazing pool, great staff, very relaxing. Fantastic for a quick, inexpen

We stayed at the Hilton for almost a week in July of 2007. Our room featured a beautiful view of the pool area, the Caribbean, and a neighboring resort. It also had an extremely comfortable heating/cooling system and offered the most comfortable beds imaginable. The hotel had a wonderful and relaxing atmosphere. Nearly every staff member was very friendly and eager to help. The maid service was especially impressive.
The greatest thing about the hotel was definitely the pool area. There were seven pools and two hot tubs, all of which had perfect temperature levels. As we walked around the pool area sidewalk (conveniently arranged in a maze which allows guests to navigate the center of the area without getting wet), we witnessed volleyball games, water aerobics, and those contentedly resting upon their floating devices. Once in the pool, most people enjoyed the swim-up bar and the creatively-designed resting ledge which formed a semi-circle around the eastern half of the pool.
Although the food in the hotel's restaurants was expensive and of average quality, the servers were very attentive and eager to please. The convenience of charging to your room card made eating, drinking, (and spending) quite easy to do.
There were tennis courts as well as a golf course and practice range on the property. The concierge even arranged a complementary ride to the course, which was all of a block-long walk. Life is tough at the Hilton. There was also a spa to provide a variety of different massages, each of which appeared to be quite relaxing to guests who enjoyed their massages poolside. The prices seemed high, so we opted to have sports and swedish massages in nearby Playa del Carmen. They were very relaxing for half the price of the Spa at the Hilton.
Taxis are waiting outside the hotel at any time of the day or night. City buses are a short walk to the end of the property. Taxis tend to run about ten to twenty times the cost of the buses, depending upon the length of your trip.
The only negative aspect of the hotel was the minibar (small refrigerator) in each room. It is stocked full of high-priced items, which are counted on a daily basis. Guests are not allowed to move any of the items without being charged for consuming them. Extra refrigerators are available for an extra charge, but it seems logical that some room could be provided for a coke or bottle of water, given the regular room rates. This is a small matter compared to the positive features of this hotel, which also included generous daily replacements of hand soaps, shampoos, and conditioners.
We would definitely recommend the Hilton favorably as a moderately-priced hotel in the Hotel Zone. Its location near the end of the zone allows for peace and quiet, while also offering easy access (a ten to fifteen minute bus ride) to the zone's premier shopping areas and hot night spots.
In talking with guests of the hotel who had visited Cancun many times, and had stayed at various hotels, we found their impressions of the Hilton to be quite positive. If we are fortunate enough to return to this area, we would definitely plan another enjoyable stay at the Hilton.
