member icon Condescending owner & rude staff

Very rude staff. Extremely condescending owner, David Adams. Hot tub in waterpark was not working, and looked as though it had been out of order for weeks, maybe months. Water was much too cold for children to enjoy. Waterpark in general is in need of an overhaul. Room prices were $189 for two queens - average cost of same room in al three neighboring hotels was $99. Our room was musty, with stains on both the carpet and the bedspread. Of every hotel we have EVER booked (over 200 in 15 years), this one is the worst. If you do stay here, you deserve what you get.

My son,and i visited for a birthday party and the pool was really nice as far as looks. The water park indoors is a great idea, my son had a great time until later in the evening. The chlorine level was high, burning our eyes, but we were having fun!Later in the evening a little boy threw up in the pool, the staff came, poured chemicals in the pool, then left. Still no lifeguard. The pool did not close? I think with lifeguards, new staff, and signs at the pool deck, they would have a even more great place, until then i won't return. Parents please be careful if you choose this hotel, they need a lot of work, and for the sake of their customers they should wake up!!!!

My future mother in law reserved a room for 3 nights recently and during her stay we ran across a few major issues.

First being the site of roaches everywhere...they were crawling under our feet while eating in the snack area outside the pool. When we mentioned to a worker that we had seen the roaches he replied "Well my boss is cheap I'm not surprised and anytime someone reports seeing them we are supposed to give them a free drink from the drink machine".

My mother in law followed up with a different staff member that was supposed to be the manager and he made her out to be a liar or to seem as if she didn't know what she was talking about. He called them water bugs but it definitely wasn't a water bug!

Our second issue was the indoor water park. It's a great set up as far as looks are concerned but the chlorine was so strong in there that all of our eyes were watering, red, and scratchy. Our sinuses were also burning like crazy. We tolerated it long enough so that the kids could enjoy the water but it was not fun for us adults. Another issue in the water park would be the lack of supervision on staff. There were many kids of all ages going down the water slide and the way it's set up you go down at your own discretion and kids were landing on top of each other at the end of the slide which holds 4ft of water. I saw many kids crying within a two hour time frame.

I do not and will not recommend a stay at this hotel. There is a Holiday Inn (Holidome) not too far from this location in Louisville, KY that is really nice for families to stay!

32 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

I took 4 girls here for my daughter's 9 year old birthday party. The room was nice, except for the pile of freshly trimmed toenails next to the bed. The toilet would not flush so I called the front desk and someone did come up to look at it, I showed her the toenails when she came up also. I didn't hear anything for several hours and when I called back down they said it could not be fixed.

They did give us the room next door so that we would have a toilet. That was alright I guess.

The water park was very fun for the girls. The problem came the 2nd day when the chlorine just became overwhelming. Several kids were coughing constantly. I went to the front desk to find out what was going on and they said everything was fine. The girls that were with me started coughing and gagging and felt like they could not breath. I felt it was not safe to be in the water park. Another parent went out and called the health department. I am a registered nurse and I felt the chlorine level was at the danger level. Kids were in the adjacent snack bar coughing their heads off. We left and I had a nice conversation with the lady at the desk (among many other parents) about the toenails, the toilet and the chlorine.

In their defense they refunded me the cost of the room. Too bad the event had too turn out like that.

I think the place has potential, but they have some major ventilation work that needs to be done.

We were having the advertised "slumber party" which was to include two adjoining rooms for one night, the indoor water park, and the party room and all of the party supplies, pizzas, cake and drinks. This was to cost $425 plus tax.

We were over charged $10.60 for drinks that were supposed to be part of the party, but believed them when we were told it would be taken care of. Instead of finding the credit on my account a couple of days later, I was shocked to find my account with a account balance of -$440!

After calling my bank Hearthstone Inn & Suites had charged my account not only the amount I owed (no problem) but had four additional holdings on my account in the amounts of $192.60, $46.46, and two holdings of $185.15. This caused my account to also be charged several overdraft fees.

After calling Hearthstone every day for a week, several times a day (never getting a phone call in return) I was finally told that they did no such thing and that I was a liar, and that had I been smart enough to add the amounts together than I would see I was only charged what I owed. They refused to do anything, It took my bank calling them to get them to admit their mistake. My lovely bank also informed them that they have violated the laws and guidelines involved with using Visa.

My bank went ahead (seeing this wasn't my doing) and credited all of my money back to me including the overdraft charges.

I still have not received the overcharge of $10.60 back to my account as of today. I still have not received a phone call or any other form of communication from the Hearthstone, let alone an apology for the actions and lack of attention that they have given this. This kept my account tied up for one solid business week and it is just unacceptable.

I have contacted the BBB, local TV news Troubleshooter, made a report on other internet sites, and well as here, and have told everyone I know. I strongly suggest you avoid this hotel at all costs, or it may cost you more than you know! Drive up I65 another 2 hours and go to the big one in Indy. They have a much better indoor water park, it’s much nicer, cleaner, and they will treat you right!

About the hotel itself, as stated above, we paid for adjoining rooms and they were not adjoining. One of the rooms had left over moldy food on the floor, a dirty and water filled ice bucket, and clothing from the last guest. The chlorine in the pool made your eyes burn even if you never went in the water, and they have very poor ventilation in the waterpark area. The free breakfast they bragged about was nothing other than toast, bagels, a Danish and cereal. No low carb diets allowed here!
