Sept 23, 2007
My family and I made rsvp w/the hotel's reservationist. I wanted to
make sure no charges were to be place on my credit card. It was
solely used to reserve the room as a guarantee. It was made perfectly
clear by myself to the reservationist that I strictly wanted to pay
cash. I was told not to worry about it that I could pay anyway I
preferred: cash or credit card. Upon check-in at this hotel, I paid
cash as I requested.
On Sept 2nd, my family and I returned back to the hotel after a very
long day of enjoying ourselves only to discovered that everybody that
lived in Knoxville was celebrating their boone's day. The hotel was
right in the midst of the fireworks. We was told by the hotel's guard
that there was no parking in the hotel's garage because they allowed
the non-paying guest to park in the parking spaces designated for the
guest. Vehicles was double parked into the garage. When the night
manager arrive, she rushed inside and never came back out. She even
park her little car on the sidewalk blocking the exit of the garage.
Basically, there was no way in or out of the garage. My husband & I
decided to check-out and go to another hotel. We end up paying more
than this hotel, but it was worth every price. The rooms was a lot bigger, cleaner and staff was very friendly. If you want a tight room, then the Hampton hotel & suites in Knoxville is the place too go. We explained what happen at the Hampton to the staff and night manager at the other hotel they thought we were kidding around w/them. We were very serious.
After arriving home, I tried to used my credit card only to discovered
that I was charged twice by the Hampton hotel. I was so distraught
that it took 3 days and several phone calls to this hotel and my
credit card company to have the extra charges taken off my credit
card. I couldn't not believe what happened especially when I paid
them cash upon checking in the hotel. The young man that check me out
was very unhelpful from the night office manager who got nasty w/me on
the phone.
We will never stay at the Hampton hotel ever again. They are dishonest
and a very rude staff.
