After a long drive from Guanacaste, we decided to stay at the Airport Hampton Inn for our final night in Costa Rica. We had an early morning flight to the U.S. the next morning, and figured the Hampton Inn (part of the Hilton group) would be clean.
Other than the bed bug infestation in our room, I guess it was. We've now spent around $1000 trying to contain the bed bug infestation we brought back to our apartment in New Jersey. My wife gets the brunt of their bites, 30% of her body is covered in bites, and she is now taking prescription meds to reduce her immune response. You could not pay me to stay in a Hampton Inn, or any other Hilton hotel, again. Anywhere. On our next trip to Costa Rica, we'll stick to the great local places.

Hotel Management Response - 11/6/06
------------------------------------
As we wrote to your wife in earlier communications, you must have caught the bed bugs elsewhere (a national park, luggage, a taxi cab...) We never had reports of this type in the past, but, following your complaint, we had our hotel professionally inspected. And, the company found no traces of such insects.
