We had previously stayed at a Hampton Inn in Niagara Falls, Canada, and it had been a great place to stay, so choosing this Hampton Inn in Covington, KY seemed to be a logical decision. I was disappointed in this Hampton Inn. We stayed 4 nights.
This Hampton Inn offered only one rotating hot breakfast per day, vs. the two offered at the Canada location. This meant that on a couple of the mornings, we didn't like the hot selection at all - ironic, since the availability of hot selection(s) was one of the primary reasons for us to choose a Hampton Inn vs. a hotel that offers only cold continental breakfast selections.
The coffee pot in the room was filthy! When I brewed some hot water for evening tea, it came out yellow and there was a great deal of sediment floating around the pot, with an awful smell.
Most days, we'd return to our room after sightseeing, to find that the cleaning staff had not replaced things - bath mat, cold drink cups, etc. One evening I went down to the breakfast room to get juice cups as it seemed faster and easier than calling the front desk and waiting for someone to bring some.
Overall, I would not recommend this particular Hampton Inn, and the experience has made me want to avoid Hampton Inn in the future. Guests should be able to count on a similar level of quality across a hotel chain, but that doesn't seem to be the case with Hampton Inns.
Also, unlike previous reviewers noted, we did not receive any discount coupons to attractions or restaurants, and there was no snack waiting for us each day. I can only conclude that this hotel has been going downhill since those last reviewers stayed.
