24 year old with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
I enjoyed my stay at Hampton Inn overall. The staff that was there when I checked in late Friday night were more than helpful and courteous. The room was nice and I really found the bed to be more comfortable than I had expected. The complimentary breakfast was a nice added touch and so was the free shuttle to local locations. The desk personnel inquired where we were going to visit and eat while we were out and were able to provide us with a coupon book that I was able to use at three different places we visit; the Carnegie Museum of Art, a local coffee shop, and Tom’s Diner. There were only a few things that I would count against the hotel; the fan in the bathroom did not work and after a shower it was very steamy, the sink actually leaked slightly, and the walls were very thin – we could hear everything our neighbor was doing and he could hear us too. Besides those three points I would say my stay here was wonderful. It is conveniently located in Oakland near the University and the Carnegie Museums. Forbes Avenue is a strip of culture and little shops. The hotel is only a short drive from Downtown, the Southside, and Mount Washington. I would recommend staying here.
I am very likely
to return to the Hampton Inn Pittsburgh-University Center.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

I spent many hours on the computer trying to find a hotel with an available smoking room at least 3 weeks in advance of our visit. This was the only hotel able to provide a smoking room. I had confirmation in writing for a smoking room. After...

40 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for business
This hotel not only is in a bad area location, but the front desk staff has the same trashy attitude towards their guests. After checking into this hotel for 90 minutes, I did not feel safe whatsoever. The neighboring streets were littered with grafitti, police sirens were going off, cars with deep bass sounds were blasting at the traffic light. This was not a hotel for any business traveler. When I asked to check out, I was told by the front desk, he will charge me the full rate for my 90 minute stay regardless of their 100% "satisfaction" guarantee. There was absolutely no customer service to be found in this property. Avoid it at all costs.
