52 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

I read the comments on the "Old Bait and Switch" with the billboard special so I thought I'd check it out myself since I like a good bargain. The front desk lady said it was for 1 person and I had two therefore I would pay $65.00. Still not bad. I did upgrade to a King room and it was great. Recliner chair and refrigerator and microwave is why I upgraded since I have been on a Harley for three days. The rooms looked new. Perhaps the hotel has changed, I don't know. Breakfast was fine. It was too cold to enjoy the outdoor pool but the indoor hot tub was very large. Great location to take a walk along the river.

39 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

I traveled for over 10 years with close to 1000 nights in hotel rooms. With the exception of a few run down places in the middle of no-where, this may be the worst one yet. I stayed for a baseball tournament for my son. The room was non-smoking, but there were people in the hall smoking and drinking until after 3 AM one night. I called to complain a couple of times, but nothing was done. I opened to door to politely ask them to quiet down and I saw one of the guys smoking 5 feet from my door. He said sorry, as he went into the room across the hall with a friend still smoking. The room was old and dirty with lime green blankets. The whole room smelled. The so-called hot breakfast was only for one guest and did not include anything to drink. No big deal, but they make it sound like a big deal. I let my 75 lb 10 year old eat both mine and my wife’s and he was still hungry. He said it tasted OK. The server was nice but the hotel staff was rude. We checked out a day early as did the whole team. All the parents were upset. I heard complaints about the food, the rooms, the noise in the hall, but mostly the smoking and the horrible staff. I didn't say much and was ready to let the clerk know when I went to check out. I admit the lady who checked me out was nice and pleasant. I just couldn't go off on her, but I would NEVER stay there and would recommend sleeping in a park or going to another town if every hotel is full. By the way the $59 billboards coming into town from both ends is not valid.

They have Bait and Switch marketing techniques advertising "Billboard Special" rates and "Full Free Breakfast." Billboard rates effectively do not exist (hotel staff says they are gone by 4:00 PM) and breakfast would shame the dollar menu of a fast food restaurant if you are foolish enough to wait nearly an hour for it. Rooms poorly maintained, loose faucets on sinks, outdoor security doors that don't close despite beer-drinkers hanging around in the parking lot. Paid extra for kids but only 2 towels provided and front desk said no more towels available. Overall, the worst stay I have had in 20 years.

If a zero were a choice, then that would have been the rating this motel would have received. My advice is stay away unless you have no other choice and then think about sleeping in your car.

I made a reservation online for a king-size suite; after I had checked in, paid, unloaded my car, and finally got to the room, I noticed a double bed instead. I called the front desk and was told that all of the king-sized suites were taken. Why I was not told beforehand is beyond me.

The room was exceptionally cold, and the heater barely worked. The hot tub made all sorts of weird noises in the time I was using it. The full breakfast choices include oatmeal or two pancakes.
