The Guesthouse Hotel in Norwalk is situated within 8 acres of grounds and is located fairly close to many of the cities attractions. It is advisable to have a car if you are staying here. The hotel has been recently renovated and the rooms are spacious and clean. There are 2 outdoor heated pools; one of which is a children's pool, as well as an outdoor heated Jacuzzi. The restaurant and bar in the hotel serves good food and even though the menu is not huge, it's still a pleasant place to eat. There are more restaurants to choose from within 10 minutes of the hotel. The staff here are friendly and helpful.

My stay at the Guest House/Saddleback Inn was not terrible but was definately not worthy of the rave reviews it has recieved in the other reviews any aspect. This is not a Hotel; it is a Motel with an expensive lobby. This motel is nestled on a triangular plot of asphalt between the 5 freeway and an active Freight Rail Line. The beautifully landscaped 30 square feet of grass just outside of the lobby with palm trees was a refreshing change to the balance of the 8 acres of asphalt and brown stucco buildings. As mentioned in the properties description they have a newly remodeled lobby and have spent a lot of money on their bar area. Unfortunately I did not sleep in the lobby, attend a local wedding, family reunion or Rotary business meeting hosted in the newly remodeled lobby.
At some time in recent history they have replaced the room carpeting and put in new tile in the bathrooms. They did not however replace the mattresses or furnishings. My room had two beds and I was able to find a spot in one of them that still offered some support. The room was large, empty of comfort furniture but large. One of the quaint local customs is the 3:10 a.m. freight train that blows its horn every morning just outside of your door as it approaches the road crossing. Guests with weak bladders or heart issues should take appropriate precautions before turning in for the night. During the day you can listen to the auctioneer at the auto auction just on the other side of the tracks.
Even though I was only a short distance from the newly remodeled lobby, I was not able to get a decent WiFi signal but was able to access the internet Old School via the room phone. I honestly do not know what the quality of their restaurant is but I can recommend several of the local family owned restaurants for great breakfasts with huge portions at a fraction of the cost of the buffet.
I know that they do not have rodent problems as I walked past the same two pieces of fried mystery food on the second floor walkway for four days. They were just past the small pile of hair pins and the tooth pick I stepped over on the way to my car every day. This was either a positive indication of no pests or a negative reflection of the quality of their food. If I had seen someone from house keeping or maintenance I would have pointed out these small issues with them. I am sure that their day was filled with cleaning the other 8 occupied guests rooms in my portion of the motel and grooming the landscaping.
If you are a long distance truck driver or have a road crew, construction crew or landscaping crew that needs housing this is a great place to put them up. As I said the rooms are at least large and there is a lot of space for gear storage. The crews are segregated from other guests and housed in the back buildings. Here you can enjoy the nightly comradery and exchange of other local points of interest. Truck drivers are allowed to stay with the non-long term guests. You may want to speak to visiting drivers for local safe lots to park your trailers as bob tails are only permitted in the motel lot.
I travel every other week on business and seldom give reviews. This motel isnt bad, it just isnt as advertised or reviewed for business travelers, families, get away weekends or the elderly with heart conditions. If you enjoy train horns and asphalt it may be perfect for you just make sure you get a really good rate from a travel site.
I am not likely
to return to the GuestHouse Hotel Norwalk.
I would not recommend it to friends.
My stay at the Guest House/Saddleback Inn was not terrible but was nothing like the raving reviews posted or the description that the property listing posts. I hate to think that the last several reviews were written by employees BUT!

35 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
THe hotel was the old Saddleback & Suites. THey have since gutted out the entire lobby and it looks like a Marriott lobby now. Marble floors, Modern furniture, modern decor. THe Bar has also been renovated! Rooms are great and I am excited about this hotel and what it brings to our city.

Mediocre
The first weekend I was there, there was a wedding reception there, I got back from being out that day to find no parking available, I could not get in my room, key trouble, but the office was closed due to people just milling around everywhere!...
