Greenview Inn is not a 5 star anything. I had to take a test at Long Island University and needed a place to stay the night before since my test was at 9AM. I live in the city. From my search online, I thought Greenview Inn was the perfect place. The pictures looked great and the online site rated a 5 star Inn. I was convinced and made reservations. When I arrived, the front desk area was very musty and the smell of Chinese food was very strong! The person at the counter was very nice and professional though, and I tried to get passed the appearance. I checked in and asked to have the closest room to front desk and also asked if there was security 24 hours a day since I saw some sketchy people roaming around the sides of the buildings as I pulled into the driveway. The front desk assured me that they had 24 hour security service and cameras installed at every angle of the driveways. I paid for the room and took my key. Dumb me! When I walked into the room, the place was so musty! The glass on the wall and the television had a layer of dust and everything I touched was very dirty. I freaked out and thought: perhaps there something in the bed, so I took the top blanket and pulled it back to find cigarette burn holes all over the sheets! There were holes all over both sheets and some on the blanket! I took my bag, grabbed my keys and drove out of there as fast as I could.
If you are in LI and need a place to stay - there is a Howard Johnson (brand new! only a year old) on Main Road right across TGIF. I didn't find the HJ listed online and was made aware at the front desk that it's so new no one knows about it yet! Thankfully I drove past it. The Howard Johnson is in Riverhead and it's not expensive. Also, the Greenview Inn charged just as much at the HJ... I was so upset! I called to explain to and to cancel my stay at the Greenview Inn and the guys refused to cancel the payment claiming they had a no-refund policy. I called my cc the next morning and place in a dispute.
