male with an economy budget, traveling for leisure
My travel rewards agent recommended this hotel as it is on their list. Since I was using my rewards point, my agent said I don't have to pay anything. This hotel charged my credit card without my authorization ... I believe that is illegal. The rece

Son is autistic and very sensitive to smoke and chemicals. Called ahead to make sure hotel was smoke free....and that they kept it that way! Explained why it was important to us. Arrived room smelled of smoke. We reported it and they put an ionizer in it while we went to swim since no other rooms were available. We had brought our son's trains to use on the top bunk bed. We lifted up the mattress so he could set them up on the hard surface underneath. UGGHHHH so GROSS! LOTS of fecal matter...you could tell it hadn't been cleaned in a VERY LONG TIME! Smelled horrible! Would have left but with an autistic child...transitions are not something you undertake lightly. He was already excited about the water. We had to bite our tongues and tough it out. Went out on balcony...and all you could smell was smoke....arrghh. Plus there is some sort of factory near-by that smells like acrid sulfur. So you couldn't even go on balcony to catch some fresh air or relax. Husband and son dawdled around in the kiddie pool. I just waded up to my knees. We rinsed off...and within an hour I had a rash on my legs...and our son was covered with a rash! (High bacterial counts I guess...really gross!) I just couldn't bear sleeping on the beds....so we had to leave. We explained our position and we weren't even given our money back!!!!! Stay far, far, far, away from this place!!!!

The location of the hotel was ideal. It was close to many restaurants, shopping and attractions. The hotel itself had a ton to do. It was great for the kids. The water park was lots of fun!
We took our two year old son on vacation here. I was excited to see him each day in the water park. There was so much to do there, it was exciting to see what he would do next.
I am very likely
to return to the Great Wolf Lodge - Sandusky OH.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

We stayed 2 nights at nearby Kalahari and 1 night at Great Wolf and we all agreed that we liked Great Wolf much better. My kids loved their own private "log cabin" with bunkbeds inside our room. Also they loved the water park. It was relaxing for my husband and me because we could talk and read while the children enjoyed the water park. I am looking forward to trying the Great Wolf closer to my home for a long weekend this winter when the weather is bad.

If you like water parks, your best bet is to go somewhere else. If there weather is nice, try Surfin' Safari at nearby Holiday World. If the weather is bad, stay home.
The rooms are about $400/night, the water is cold, and several rides (2 slides and 2 pools) are closed, overcrowding the other rides and pools. There are too many rules, no water socks, no towels outside the water park and the wave pool is really wimpy. There are no dry towels available when the water park closes, room service won't answer the phone and the restaurant staff is too busy socializing to help customers.
They use a new key technology that works only intermittently. I had to go to the front desk twice to get a working "key". They kept telling me the one I had worked just fine (even after they replaced it.)
On top of everything else, you cannot charge things to room if you pay with a debit card.
