Grant Plaza Hotel

This hotel has a great location, just at the entrance to Chinatown, right next to Market St., walking distance from Embarcadero, and the Financial District.

The staff was nice. The rooms are quite old, the furniture and the bathrooms but they were very clean, which is mucho more important to me.

If traveling on a budget, then this is a good hotel. It's also good if you don't plan on spending much time in your room. I would use this hotel again.

The heating and air conditioning units are controlled by the hotel, not the guests, so I was not able to maintain a comfortable temperature during the night time and early morning time of my stay. The walls are thin and you can easily hear people out in the halls, but at least it is not a huge hotel with many guests. It is in a good location, with reasonable prices if you are just looking for a place to stay without expecting luxury.

This hotel is only one block from the Chinatown and was recently renovated. It is highly recommended and very popular for budget travelers. The location is great and the service was alright. Its only one block from the Chinatown Gate, and you can easily walk to Little Italy which is a few blocks away and also walk to the pier and wharf if you want to. Cable cars are close as well.

Rooms are very small, equipped with remote TV and heater, but no air conditioning. And the people there are very nice and helpful. If you are like me that only spent 8 hours sleeping in there then you will have no problem. If you expect a lot out of a hotel (good amenities or cleaniness) then skip this hotel and stay at a chain. Don't looking for luxury there or even a full 2 star hotel. This place is all about location!

The rooms were tiny and we had no control over the heater. Any noise in the halls could easily be heard in the room and the elevator was extremely slow. However, the price was low for the area and the reservation information was correct.
