I've stayed at this hotel for years when it was the Hilton. The new ownership has really changed it for the better. The renovations are unbelievable, and I almost didn't recognize it. The new restaurants and the wine bar are amazing, and the renovated rooms are some of the best I've ever stayed in. Great service, great atmosphere. Tons for the kids to do, the new pool is fantastic. It's better than alot of brand new hotels. Highly recommended!

We stayed in one of the renovated rooms. The bathroom was awesome with a TV mounted near the huge shower! Everything was clean, quiet and very nice. We did however get a hint of a smokey cigarette smell every now and then. We stayed for one week for a conference. It was very nice.

On a tough holiday weekend, the hotel was able to change the room for us to more acceptable accomodations. The front desk personnel were wonderful and informative. The rooms were clean but the hotel was undergoing rennovations. The coffee shop(24 hr) was not open in the afternoon and lines were long at the other restaurants. Waiting for the elevator was time consuming.

There were no coffee pots in the room. The pool was not open on time. There was no place to be outside for fresh air. I was there for a conference.
I am
somewhat likely
to return to the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino.
I
might recommend it to
friends.

Cloudy water and other disappointments

I enjoyed a visit to Reno Grand Sierra last year. I just returned 5 days ago from this same hotel. I was appalled to see half the casino was dark & inoperable. A large ugly concrete floor was bared in the middle of the casino. Plus, in my suite, the water from the tap was cloudy. The coffee maker didn't work so I called housekeeping to come fix it. (She did, saying it was new and had to be 'initiated'.) It was frustrating
On the positive side, the room was tastefully decorated and room service was prompt. Just be aware that this construction will be continuing for 6 years. I read the magazine showing the ambitious plans for this place. I will check it out in 2013, not before.

It has an excellent location. They have non stop top notch casino action. Bowling, driving range, a movie theater, great restaurants, everything you need is under one roof. They really take good care of you at the Grand Sierra hotel.
This hotel made me feel excited: They have wonderful amenities, an excellent staff and terrific customer service.
I am
very likely
to return to the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino.
I
would definitely recommend it to
friends.

The hotel is great, and so are the employees. They are all very wonderful. But the owner has provided such poor service that I cannot recommend this hotel.

After reading some other reviews I was worried about the quality of the room due to the renovation. To my surprise, the room was great given the price we found using SideStep.com.
The room was clean, spacious, and easily accessible. This is not the case with some hotels with casinos. We ate at Asiana, and I would not recommend it. It was just plain ordinary Americanized Chinese food. I prefer to stay at this hotel instead of the Peppermill any day.
