Grand Palladium IS THE WORST – Posted Aug 17, 2009

Horrible
traveling with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

No internet access from the rooms. This is an abomination. I’m a physician. How is it possible in this day of communication that I have to carry my laptop or some other internet ready device to communicate with my staff. As a traveling businessman, I am absolutely besides myself to believe that in 2009 I can’t access my bank accounts, interoffice email, friends and family via the internet from the accommodations of my room.

No one told us of the dress code for dining other than the buffet dining.

Even my wife said that when were at the restaurant Senor Frogs: “finally, Mexican food”.

There is no wait staff on the beach for food and beverage service. To at least be a 3.5 out of 5 to qualify for

No room service!

I filled out more forms that were so un-necessary including the form on my arrival that served absolutely no purpose what-so-ever.

Since none of the restaurants are not accommodating during the day and only the buffet is available, the food was atrocious. I came to Mexico to have Mexican cuisine and found lamb goulash from Istanbul. I don’t understand this!?!

Every restaurant required a dress code that I was not made aware of before my arrival, and required at least an one hour wait to be seated. I’m sure most would agree this does not constitute an “all inclusive” facility especially when from plain site outside each restaurant there were open tables with adequate staff to serve those arriving.

The “train” is erratic in its timing and accommodation for guests to go to the main lobbies. The sign reads: “Train every 10 minutes from 8 AM to 2 AM” and this is not at all the case.

The electricity went out in room 6502 and no one attended to the room and at the time of this writing it is 1:50 PM in the afternoon.

Travel arrangements were made to leave as later on Sunday as possible and the front office staff deemed it “impossible” for other accommodations be made for a later departure on Sunday. Interestingly, my wife and I returned from the beach (a wonderful time I might add) at 1:45 PM. No one had been to the room to clean it, no one had retrieved our luggage, our room was exactly the same as we had left it. So apparently either the front staff lied and said they could not accommodate us, or the guests who were supposed to arrive are about to receive the same service we received and will have to wait for their room which is “not yet ready”!!

On arrival, the hostess at the front desk said any and all consumption of beverages was covered in the “all inclusive”, but nothing of any value was provided.

The resort was touted to me to be an “all inclusive 4.5 out of 5 family resort” and several of the guests on the beach were topless. I had with me my 10 year old son and my 14 year old daughter and to say the least we were appalled at this revelation. Most obviously this is NOT a family resort!

With the exception of the bellboys and the Punta Emilia, this resort is at best a 3 out of 10 resort and at its current level of performance from the front office staff.
