The lobby and outside are very nice, but they didn't spend as much time on the rooms. The bed wasn't terribly comfortable, and there wasn't even a blanket on the bed, just a 4x7 throw. Everything there was extremely overpriced, a continental breakfast for $15.00. They didn't even provided a shuttle to the airport. The staff was even at times rude probably because they were getting so many complaints. Because I was there on business I had to use a pre-reserved room, but I could've gotten the same room for $70.00 less a night if I had reserved it myself with AAA discount. They charged an additional night on my card without my authorization which I am having to spend a great deal of time getting straightened out. I will never stay there again and will not recommend to friends. Next time I will stay in a less expensive, more hospitable and comfortable hotel.

Mediocre
The hotel is conveniently located downtown, but that is where the positives end. I booked the hotel directly from their website and paid for it in advance. When I checked in they refused to give me the rooms I booked at the rate I booked and...

Excellent
I just got back from a conference and stayed here for 3 nights. Nice rooms, comfy beds, but a bit on the loud side. The train that runs by the convention center is VERY loud (I've also stayed at the Marriott and you can hear it there, too) and as...

Okay
The best part about this hotel is its location and views. The hotel is close proximity to everything, in fact the trolley stops in front of the hotel. At the rear of the hotel there is an entrance to Seaport Village. Our room was on 30th floor, a...

Impressive on the Outside, and Lobby, but not much to offer as you would hope for. The veiw was awsome, but no balcony. The pool was very small and the seating arrangments where not that great, if you came late.
The gift shop, Bad, nice clothes (to expensive for me) and not enough snacks and drinks to offer. If you like hanging out at the bar, this is your place, but I don't. The Marriott next door out shines this hotel by far.
Forsaking my usual Floridian haunts

Excellent
Forsaking my usual Floridian haunts temporarily, I made two trips to San Diego and Southern California in the Autumn of 2006. As the second visit was part conference and part vacation we thought that we would 'push the boat out ' and stay at the...
35 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
My family checked into this hotel this weekend and had a disappointing experience. We dined at the Lael restaurant for breakfast on Saturday morning and had the bill charged to the room. My husband wrote our room number clearly on the bill and we went over to the gift shop to do some shopping. Soon after our waiter was there double checking our room number and our name which was a humiliating experience. The waiter had a bad attitude and we are very disappointed with the low class attitude of this particular wait staff.
I am not likely
to return to the Grand Hyatt San Diego.
I would not recommend it to friends.

Im from the O.C. and I went with my dad and girlfriend and stayed for a few nights. Excellent location ... Excellent service. A little on the expensive side but it is worth it. The food the bars, the pools, the skylounge... great experience.
