38 year old man with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

We came here as we were getting married in New York - there was a cock up with the allocation of room on arrival (we'd prebooked & paid for the Lexington but were allocated a slightly smaller room) but this was sorted quickly enough by Ian the bellboy, who helped us when we couldn't get through to reception by phone.

After this, the service we received was first rate. On the day of the wedding we came back to our room to find complementary Champers & Strawberries in Chocolate left with a lovely card from Sanjida on reception.

The Lexington suite is large but not overtly so for the money, with TV's in either room and a nice comfy sofa bed. There was also a fridge and desk which came in very useful. The room was very clean throughout our stay, the housekeeping was excellent, and the clock radio is compatible with your iPod. Which is nice.

We were given complementary vouchers on arrival for free tea or coffee from the downstairs lobby coffee bar, which was good as no tea or coffee making facilities are available in the rooms.

You do have to pay for internet access either through the TV service or on your laptop via T-Mobile so watch out. Free newspapers are left by the room door during the weekdays.

Concierge service was excellent throughout, the lobby is stunning and the staff were helpful (though the Manhattan Sky bar owner was a bit abrupt so we didn't bother returning there).

Beware though - health and safety is a bit lax as the plug for the hairdryer in the bathroom was a bit suspect. Excellent aircon but would have expected some sort of extractor in the bathroom... if you know what I mean.

Overall we would have expected a bit more for 4 star hotel, but you can't fault the location of this place and if you can find any bargain prices it is heartily recommended.

Ok. the location is awesome being that it is right next to the Grand Central Station. Staff kept it clean, even cleaned spilled nail polish!

On the other hand, tight space in the bed room and very tight in the bathroom. I guess that's N.Y.! NO coffee in the bedroom unless you have it delivered via room service for about $10-15 for coffee. Ok so, you HAVE TO resort to Starbucks IN THE LOBBY for more money than on the street! What a setup, between the hotel and Starbucks!

Elevator was very busy during check out time and if you are on 25th floor like we were, no hope because it was the last floor going down of the elevator columns of our side. so I went down to 24th floor which was the top of the elevator segment, no problem! Got to know the algorithm I guess!

The Grand Hyatt was really nice. The location was great, near 5th avenue and times square. The decorations was beautiful and I must say extremely clean. Excellent service. Loved it.

It was well located for my reason for being in New York City. However, the price was very high for the type of hotel it was. I have paid less to stay there before, so it may have been a supply and demand issue and not a permanent price increase.

I am somewhat likely to return to the Grand Hyatt New York.
I might recommend it to friends.
