i live in melbourne and am a club member of the Grand Hyatt City Health Club. I feel compelled to write this review and this is my fourth attemtp to do some thing about a security incident that happened at the City Health went completely ignored by the Grand Hyatt Hotel Management and Security. On Friday July 24, while we were working out in the gym, there was a thief who went through his wallet (which was in is blazer LOCKED away in his locker) and stole AUD $750 and relocked the locker as if nothing had happened. Another gentleman also had his money cleaned out from his wallet. Both incidents were reported to the Club reception desk as soon as the incident was discovered. The Grand Hyatt Security promised to "investigate" and report to management. Since then, (and today is August 1), we have not heard from the Grand Hyatt Management, and it is business-as usual at the City Health Club. The club members were not made aware of the problem; no warning to the club member was published and ALL HAS BEEN KEPT SILENT. I did some research of my own and found out that incidents of theft like this have happened in the past but club members were not ever warned.
We did not think of immediately of reporting this theft to the Melbourne Police as we TRUSTED THAT GRAND HYATT SECURITY AND HOTEL MANAGEMENT WOULD INVESTIGATE AND PERFORM THE NECESSARY DUE DILIGENCE. In hindsight, we find that this is a great loophole for the Grand Hyatt to sidestep their obligation to report on a crime.
A BIG warning to all the club members and hotel guests of the Grand Hyatt Hotel of Melbourne: Be aware of thefts that have been going on in the locker room. Keep your valuable belongings (i.e. credit cards, money, legal papers, and jewleries) SAFE or do like us... LOOK for another Health Club that takes YOUR SECURITY MORE SERIOUSLY!
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE Grand Hyatt City Health Club or Hotel!
Would I stay at the Grand Hyatt when i travel? ABSOLUTELY NOT! I'd rather trust the YMCA!
