Welcome to America's Summer Place - there's no place quite like it, and the experience cannot be duplicated. Grand Hotel. Opened in 1887. On an island without cars, where horses and bicycles are still the favored modes of transportation. It's the shower, more leisurely pace of the past, but with all the amenities of the present. Where guests enjoy exceptional service and accommodations, and a full breakfast and five-course dinner are included daily. Grand Hotel features 385 uniquely decorated guest rooms and also has the longest porch in the world. Afternoon Tea is offered each day and meals, which are included in the rate, are served in our Main Dining Room. Mackinac Island does not allow motorized vehicles, bicycles and horse and carriage carry guest around the island. The movie Somwhere in Time was filmed at Grand Hotel starring Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeve.

The Grand Hotel is a very classy place to stay. The staff makes you feel like you are a queen or king. It's a bit pricey, but worth for the service you get there.

78 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
I recently spent one night with my daughter, son and granddaughter. We were upgraded from one room with 2 dbl. beds to the HUGE Milliken Suite with 3 rooms incl. a 30 foot semi-circular parlor. We were amazed at the space, the luxury and fine furnishings. The dinner was fantastic, all the facilities top grade. It was like living in the gracious 1800's with the "clip-clop" of horses
in our ears. Yes, expensive; but WE got much more than expected with our upgrade. They treat everyone so graciously there. Would recommend it to anyone with a desire for a touch of the "grand".

the entire island is back to basic with the class of the art deco period. Also no gasoline motors are allowed on the island, everything is so fresh. Family time is really getting to know each other.
