cabins are ok and cosy but very very basic for the money. the cabins are also a fair way from the restaraunt etc. please note we went to the north rim to visit it the 'sky walk' but was shocked to find out it is 7 hours away from the north rim!! the web site makes it out to be at the north rim site!!

We stayed in the Frontier cabin... with paper thin walls. The person in the ajoining cabin snored like there was no tomorrow so our first night was rather unpleasant. We were able to move to another fronteir cabin which was very quiet and had very c

The western cabins are great but I recommend a "rim view" if you can get it. If you're looking for TV, air conditioning, etc, you should probably stay home on a "staycation". If you want a clean room with a very nice bath only a few feet from a spectacular view and the Grand Canyon lodge, this place is great. The lodge dining room is a bit pricy ($15-25 for a pretty average entree) and the service is slow and marginal at best but the view is unbeatable and I recommend their house Merlot.

This is the only location to stay at the North Rim inside the park. Small room, sink is in the room close to the bed. No television or radio, no air conditioning, no pool. You have to carry your luggage a long way from the parking lot. There are electrical issues in the bathroom. The switch for the fan and light was right next to the shower. I am 6 2 and 200 lbs. and it was hard for me just to dry myself off inside the bathroom. The best saying I relate is my cruise ship bathrooms have been bigger. This was a clean place to stay, but only one place to eat for a long distance. If I were to revisit I would stay in Kanab and get up early to see the Canyon and then return at my leisure to Kanab. If you can find a place just outside the park entrance this might be a better alternative. I made reservations in December to stay in August and the reservations person stated there were few rooms left at the time I was reserving. Your first nights reservation is charged immediately upon reserving. Xanterra had my money for eight months. Mostly travelers stay at the North Rim one night.

I made my reservation eight months in advance. I booked a Pioneer Cabin. It had two rooms, joined with a bathroom/shower. One room had two twins; the other had a double and a twin. Maids came in everyday to change linens.
There were no bugs, and the heater worked well! Animals outside (squirrels and blue jays) ate any scraps we had leftover, and quickly!
The Lodge itself was beautiful and historic. Food was great, too! Lots of fantastic views all around, and outdoor lounge chairs.
Rangers conducted a few programs daily.
Definitely worth the price, and it wasn't that expensive, either!

The hotel has a beautiful location and great views. It is very peaceful, but it has very poor separation of sound between the cabins and you can hear everything from the next room.
The very friendly people at check in and check out made me feel welcome.
I am not likely
to return to the Grand Canyon Lodge North Rim.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
