The rooms are spacious, beds are unbelievably comfortable and linens are luxurious. The restaurant food is fantastic - especially soups, beef and fish dishes. The breakfast buffet is marvelous but overpriced - go across the street to "Little America" and get nearly the same selections for a more reasonable price. The conference room food service was above the usual standards, but still not as good as the restaurant. Our conference rooms were set up on arrival and service throughout each day was timely.

A few small, annoying details, when we met to eat as a group the first evening - the afternoon staff had told us "no need to make reservations", the evening staff seemed overwhelmed by several large groups that decided to dine at the same time. They did end up being able to seat and serve our meal, but the lack of communication to staff about our group was disappointing, especially since I'd worked directly with the hotel sales department to plan for that evening meal. The service in the bar was very slow every time -- this is due somewhat to the controls on liquor service in Salt Lake. The staff wasn't familiar with some standard cocktails. Watch for some incidental charges - the price to rent an extension cord, for example, was out of line given the money spent to hold our event at the hotel. Also, we had poolside bar and food service late one afternoon -- and there were surprising added fees for that which were not presented up front.

Overall, I give a strong positive review. The Grand America was a nearly flawless hotel experience...one of the tops in my travels.
