What a GRAND Stay Indeed – Posted Aug 06, 2008

Excellent
27 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

We came in to town for a wedding and the hotel was absolutley all we expected and more. The front desk lady was very nice and the hotel was so clean. Our room had everything in it you could imagine and the new Fuji restruant was very nice also. I noticed the manager in the morning calling people by name in the hotel and it showed he really cared about all the people in the hotel and the fact that he was easy on the eyes helped out too. Me and my girlfriends will definitely recommend this hotel as the the best hotel in Ames and with the best looking manager too!!!

Second time staying – Posted May 05, 2008

Excellent

We loved the room the last time we stayed. We have 5 small children and can't split them into two rooms so Grandstay is a great alternative for us...we would never be able to pay for two rooms so this is a great rate for a family of 7.

Outstanding service and nothing like a hotel room, more like an apartment. I am the sister of Mike Jenkins who owns GOLF USA across the street from you. Can't wait to come back. ...

Excellent
46 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

We came in to drop our son off to college and did not expect such a great hotel. We were so impressed we already made our reservations for the visits next year to our son here. We got to see how a hotel should be operated. The rooms were amazing and the workers there were just terrific! We could not have stayed at a better hotel in Ames. Thank you all at the Grandstay!

45 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

We came for our son’s orientation at ISU, and the hotel was such a nice part about our trip. I usually do not get on and post a comment, but this hotel wow'd me and my family. The rooms and the whole hotel were so clean, and warm. The breakfast lady was so nice and sweet to my kids, and helping us every morning of our stay. The front desk girls were always friendly. We did have our ice maker in our room not work, but the manager personally apologized to us, and had it repaired right away. We will be coming to Ames for the next four years off and on, and I and my husband will not even consider staying anywhere else! This hotel is the best!

We were in town for the weekend and absolutley loved the hotel and the staff. The General Manager delivered to the doors to all the mothers for mothers day in the hotel. It was a very nice and clean hotel and our kids loved the pool and spa. The breakfast was fantastic and all the staff at the hotel was very nice! I would reccomend this hotel to anyone and everyone. I am not sure what the other review was saying but this hotel is definitely not that. The manager was so considerate and nice I could not see him or any of the other staff being anything but.

42 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

This is the nicest hotel in Ames hands down. I travel all the time for my job and this hotel is the best maintained, clean and well managed hotel I have been able to stay in. The staff was friendly, and made it feel like I was at home. The rooms were so nice and clean, and they were great to feel like I was at home, and not in a hotel room, with the living room area and the seperate bedroom, with all the kitchen needs was nice so that I was able to cook myself dinner. I enjoyed the spa and being able to relax ,and it was quiet and not a lot of noise. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Great job GrandStay!

There was bacteria in the spa – Posted Feb 22, 2007

Horrible
42 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

We stayed here for my daughter's birthday with eight of her friends.

There were electrical problems in the room, and the smoke alarm went off in the middle of the night. All nine girls got a bacterial infection called folliculitis from using the spa, which was being properly maintained. The general manager was downright rude and unsympathetic to the whole ordeal. He said he would, "Get back to me in two days."

It was the worst experience ever. I wouldn't recommend this place at all!

Bacteria in the Jacuzzi – Posted Jan 17, 2007

Horrible
42 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

We had our daughter’s 13th birthday party here, and there were many problems.

The electrical outlets in the rooms were not working. A smoke alarm in the room went off in the middle of the night. All eight children contracted a bacterial skin infection called Folliculitis from the Jacuzzi, which apparently wasn't being maintained properly.

The hotel manager basically dismissed my concerns and told me he would get back to me in two days. This was a horrible experience and I would not recommend it to anyone!
